I'm sure there are a few tarot users here, which deck do you use?

I currently use The Shadowscapes Tarot which is a lot of fun and I love the watercolor artwork.

I rarely use my cards, but when I do it is for fun. I never gave anyone else besides myself a reading only because it's something personal to me but I would if someone asked I suppose.

Feel free to share any tarot experiences you've had, would love to hear some. icon_surprised.gif

Sorry to be the one to break it to you, kid, but there's no such thing as magic. In other 19th century news: astrology, palm reading, psychics, ghosts, vampires, oils that cure cancer, professional wrestling and the Jersey Shore are also fake.

Sorry, OP, but the poster asked. I felt obligated as a responsible citizen.

I've heard of I ching but I haven't looked into it fully. I've always wanted an Egyptian Tarot since I have a thing for the Egyptians.

Does it work? That's quite a subjective question since everyone uses them for different reasons. I rarely use them, and when I do they tell me things that I already know. So from my personal experiences they pull what is already in your intuition which makes it clearer on what you are questioning.

I'm just someone that uses them for fun so I don't delve into if it really works or not since it's just an enjoyable hobby, plus the artwork on the cards is really what draws me to them.

I used to actually play the "tarot" game when I was a kid with my grand-grand-mother.
But I have never used the cards for divinatory purpose

I couldn't help but lol @ Jersey Shore.. Probably one of the worst shows on TV. Then again I'm not much of a fan of reality TV, let alone watching TV.

Haha so that's how you use the pokemon decks. I never knew how to play it was so confusing, I guess it was because they're supposed to be used to give readings. No wonder why!icon_eek.gificon_eek.gificon_eek.gif

    I use the cosmic Tarot

    http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/cosmic/

I read alot when I was younger, but an ex of mine took my deck because "I used it to put a curse on him", since i felt it drew in the crazies I stopped using it.

I was at a music festival when I was 21, and felt a strong draw toward a tent. I followed. Once inside I saw a table full of tarot decks. Instantly I thought, "oh, thats what this is about", one in particular drew my attention. It was the cosmic tarot deck. I found it strange because the figures in the cards looked much like people I knew in life. So I told the Deck, "If you aid me in making back the money I spend on you I will keep you"

I literally didn't work all summer and supported myself siting on the street reading cards for people. It more than paid for itself and has been with me ever since.

apolo_delfos saidHow I hate people calling it a game when it's not.
How I also hate people that think they know what it is and think it's "to tell people's future" when it's not.
How I even hate it more when they say it's magic or even black magic.
So many ridiculous people talking about stuff they don't know about.

I use many but of course Rider Waite is one of the best and connolly is my favourite.
I always got everything right so far with that last one, even the first time I did a tarot reading which didn't have enough practise I got everything right, unfortunately icon_smile.gif

yeah, I had a little giggle over the "magic" comment myself

I use the "Animal Wise Tarot" by Ted Andrews. My sons got it for me one Father's Day and it's the only deck I use any more. Since I have an affinity for nature and living critters it was the perfect deck. What's funny is I bought a new deck about a year or two ago thinking I would switch. I was really drawn to it at the time, however, it's still in storage somewhere. icon_neutral.gif When the time is right it will re-surface....or not. icon_lol.gif Reading for others has never been my thing, but when the opportunity has arisen I have obliged. Most of the time I don't really need the cards anyway. icon_redface.gif Shadowscapes sounds fun and inspiring...will check it out!

Actually it is. "tarot" is a very old french game. In the origins, those cards have nothing to see with divination. Later, people began to use it that way but in the origins, it is a simple tramp game.

It's not french in origin. The farthest they can trace the plates back to is Egypt, but they have no idea where the Egyptians got it. The original plates were images representing spiritual paths and they were for people to meditate on for guidance.

Oh is it really that old?
But the word "tarot" is definitaly French. This game is still quite popular here (well, not amongst the youngs)
