I've been thinking about this question since last night, "who am I?" and I just wanted to share what I've got for myself so far.

I'm the son of immigrant parents who left everything they had in Mexico to come to the United States to give my brother and I a better future and new opportunities they didn't have in our home country. I'm also a young gay man, and I have nothing to be ashamed of. My sexuallity is private to me and God, and if he doesn't make a big deal, neither should other people. I have a deep relationship with God despite what some religions say about my sexuallity.

    Who are you?

    Want to share....

You'd think at age 64 (65, January 11), I'd know the answer to this question. But, I've been sitting here for a quarter hour trying to find a simple answer. I know all kinds of things *about* myself, but who am *I* really (beyond a figment of my own imagination)?

What if I told you that in the whole of the cosmos, from macrocosm to microcosm, absolute to infinity, there was only ONE thing (manifesting infinitely everywhere all at once forever and forever)?

What if I told you that in all the same said above, not ONE thing exists (except as it manifests itself in all its infinite diversity as stated above)?

What if I told you this isn't just the kind of shit I *think* about, but the kind of shit I actually *know* (at least a little bit some of the time) about?

Would that tell you who I am?

Just another wounded warrior of Love.

    Some have called me Chiron.

I'm a black gay atheist who writes and preforms occasionally and I enjoy drawing and I'm getting into making my own clothes. I'm the son of a preacher and when I was seventeen I was a student intern for the Obama campaign. I enjoy baking and I love singing. Its the only time when I truly don't feel like I'm fat or I'm too tall or insecure about anything I feel insecure about. When I'm on stage its like all of that just melts away.

I personally love these questions since they are so deep

However some people end up defining themselves by the people around them. (Like how you describe your life as an extension of your parents) There’s nothing wrong with it, but sometimes it’s not really necessary to describe who you are, its just who you see yourself as.

As for me, in one line:
    I am human.

And further explaining that ambiguous statement:
I am the best and worst of human nature. I am young in mind, but old in spirit. I am a son. A brother, a cousin, a grandson, a student, an artist, a writer, a friend. Someday I may be a father, or a lover, maybe an uncle or grandfather. I am a dreamer, with big plans, but I am also too young to achieve any of them. I am an optimist on a fair day, and a wreck on a bad day. I walk my life looking for the right path, but stand still at a crossroads waiting for an answer to be given to me. I am the guy that will encourage you, but remind you to stay realistic. I’m the guy that will try to cheer you up even when I know it won’t help. I’m the perfectionist who is his own worst critic. I’m the straight A student who cried when he got his first D. I’m the nerd who could go on for hours over pointless speculation. I am the writer who could spend a life time saying the same thing a thousand different ways. I am more than just one paragraph. I am everthing good and bad about human nature. I am simple, yet complex, a contradiction who hates contradictions. I am human.

I wonder, MashogaNubianPrince, if it could be possible for you to feel the way you feel when you're on stage more or less all the time in your life? I bet anything, when you're singing your heart out, you're in harmony with something. I know you're an atheist and all that, and that's fine, but the world we live in IS made up of vibrations, right? Everything, including ourselves and our thoughts and feelings, is made up of vibrating energy. So maybe something 'harmonizes' in you with yourself and the world around you.

I just wonder if you couldn't feel that more. Of course not every moment. People are bound to piss us the fuck off, for example. Or maybe we get bored or w/e. But SOMETIMES, maybe singing in the shower or singing to yourself when no one is around, or maybe singing while in the check-out line at the grocery (I don't know!), sometimes, you just let it out.

Ta Da: Beautiful Nubian Prince, alive and happy, with the world as his stage.

    WaytoDawn saidI am human.

    Are you sure?

See, I suspect, like me, you're really from another planet. Actually realm might be the better term. That doesn't mean we're not "human" exactly, cuz we are, currently, but, erm, that ain't all there is to it, is there?

I find it interesting that so many people still define themselves by what they are, what that do, what they have, etc. None of that defines who a person is, yet that is how people approach the question.

    I am Rosemary's granddaughter
The spitting image of my father
And when the day is done my momma's still my biggest fan
Sometimes I'm clueless and I'm clumsy
But I've got friends that love me
And they know just where I stand
It's all a part of me
    And that's who I am

This is gonna sound all hippy but... I am you, I am the stars, I am the product of the same processes that has made everything else so far. I am energy and when my form is no more, every single atom in my body will still be.

At the core of it all, just like everything in the universe, I am conciousness that decided to form this being for this moment in time.
