Am I crazy or are people ridiculous with this stuff? She's a woman now. Her brain has been a woman this whole time and now her body finally is. I don't get what the mix-up is.

A marriage is a contract. If either party enters a contract fraudulently the contract is void. What's not to understand?

In my opinion she was obligated to tell him the truth about herself so he could make in informed decision as to whether he wanted to marry her or not. People do not enjoy being duped.

It seemed others knew so why didn't she bother telling him? Probably because she knew he wouldn't marry her. That's fraud and not the best basis for a trusting relationship.

maybe it was the lying that he couldn't forgive. I don't consider failure to disclose lying, but can't see how she could have failed to disclose the details of her entire childhood and a life altering event like having her penis turned into a vagina. Plus, maybe he expected to knock her up

How did he go all this time without figuring out she was a man?

I mean after almost twenty years isn't this something that just kinda comes up? Like if they were trying to have kids wouldn't he or their doctor realize something was up?

People are crazy. It's just human nature. Or they just want an easy way out, fast cash.

Just like that news about the man who sued his wife for giving birth to an ugly newborn just because the woman had a cosmetic surgery before they met.

oh just actually read the article. they decided not to have kids because he already had some from a previous marriage.

    My favorite part:
"I pushed her against the wall and said, 'Now I know the truth. Are you a man?' She then announced that she was born as a boy and that she had been operated on. ... My world collapsed," Jan told Het Nieuwsblad.

Withholding crucial information about the dichotomy between ones sexual identity and genetic identity is a lie of omission. Am I obligated to reveal every little detail of myself to a future life partner? No, of course not. But if I like S&M, it wouldn't be fair of me to withhold that crucial bit of info in the hopes I could get them to like it too.

This story could have so much better if she had revealed the secret on Maury Povich.

That would require babies and multiple potential fathers to test.

I think it's real. It has to be. You can't make that shit up. not even for tv was my point. but i think he had to have known something was up on some sort of level. was probably just in denial of what he knew deep inside about his "wife"

Yep and that is why gay marriage is a contractual problem .It retroactively changes the definition of marriage voiding all existing marriage contracts theoretically.

Uh, I'm pretty sure legalizing gay marriage does not retroactively affect current marriages in any meaningful way.

But whats the problem? The wife may have been born male but was obviously transgendered and was a female in a male body. Now shes a female in a female body.

    How is that lying?

And the problem is???? Oh yeah small mindedness. Look at where it's reported and where only something like this would be new - the Daily Mail!

Then explain Canada and why that hasn't happened in any other country that has marriage for gay people. You know what's retroactive? Voting FOR Prop 8 the way you did, killing marriage for many gay people.

Kindly explain why marriage for gays in States that have had it for some time didn't retroactively void all the straight marriages in those States.

And yes, I think the marriage should be annulled for falsehood on the part of the wife.

This is not small mindedness...She is lying for the fact he believed she was 100% a woman, she wasnt she was born a male. In a relationship that should be 100% DISCLOSED!

This marriage is a sham and should be annulled....

    Though I will say...it took 20 years....

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidA lie is a lie and going nineteen years is a long time to conceal a lie. I can understand if the husband wants out. But when all is said and done, does it really matter? They weren't going to have children anyway.

I would imagine it would matter a great deal to a heterosexual because despite outward appearances, in his mind, he's been fucking a man for the past nineteen years.

I think you missed the part where they're married. Married people don't have sex.
