Dramatic Doug strikes again. icon_wink.gif It's good news.

Environmentalists had framed the bill as the first test of the president's commitment to fighting climate change in his second term and urged him to veto it. Obama quietly signed it Tuesday over their objections.

It shows that the Obama Administration is willing to put pragmatism over ideology in this case.

Nothing dramatic about it. Suspicious, more likely, as you like to smear ALL environmentalists.

It's simple practicality. The EU should not be taxing US airlines while they're flying over US space.

btw,I posted a Canadian vid about surviving the future that you should really look at.

It's on one of your obsession-with-the-US oil topics.

You again show yourself to be more a partisan lemming rather than any ability to do any serious thinking. Sorry, not going to go hunt around for your little nihilistic fantasies - especially when you can't even differentiate between things like shale gas and shale oil. Obsessed with the US? That's ironic coming from you.

lol, clearly you're too dense to figure out that much of the time I'm posting to distract you from your compulsive obsessing. And dear Riddler, you do in fact tar and feather all environmentalists.

Your attempt to go blah blah u partizin so dere is lame at best.

I am however glad to see that you finally gave Obama at least a stale crust of credit after all the rot you posted about him BEFORE the election. icon_lol.gif

...and you should watch the entire video I posted; these are people that are much smarter than you, using very advanced computers that are doing predictive calculations that you will likely find hard to swallow. Best get a spoon.

meninlove makes a good point. Why in the world should US carriers flying in the US, pay European taxes? Duh.

Don't have to worry about these penalties to begin with.

Not entirely true - it's the US portion of the trans-atlantic flights to europe that they object to having to pay the tax. The problem with this argument (from their perspective) is that they still have to pay the tax on the US portion of any flights if they are a European airline. And the reason the environmentalists believe that this should be paid is that they believe that the carbon tax will help to cover the costs of the externalities - ie drive up the cost of tickets to reflect the cost to the environment. They are not concerned about who gets the actual revenue from the tax.
