Obama's an idiot! This kissy-kissy shit is what got him in trouble in his first term.

The president won. There is nothing to discuss. Why should Obama waste his time, and why would Romney want to be bothered now?

    You are 100% correct.
Obviously, he hasn't learned anything from the way he was treated by the Republicans (and some Democrats) during his first term.
He has nothing to gain from meeting with Romney.

Very simple; when Obama won he said he would.
    So he is.

    Like so:
"In his acceptance speech on election night, Obama congratulated Romney on his campaign, and said he was looking forward "to sitting down with Governor Romney to talk about where we can work together to move this country forward."

And at his first post-election press conference, held November 14, Obama said his goal was to set a meeting before the end of the year."

    -from CNN

PS I'm rather impressed really, and think it a hallmark of a great liberal.

He shouldn't have said in his acceptance speech.

You're as big an idiot on this as he is being, I don't care how many family and friends you have in the US. The Republicans are not going to cave and cooperate if they think he's a big wuss!

Ooops - you let your guard down. "Cave and cooperate" eh? Typical liberal intolerance where "cooperate" means "doing what the liberals want."

Reminder: The House is still controlled by the Republicans. Things cannot get done without their help. Obama needs to work with Republicans in order to get things done.

Historically whenever there was a compromise Budget cuts for tax increases , the compromise was never fully practiced.

Reagan obtained a deal with house democrats and the spending cuts never materialized.

Bush Sr made a similar deal and lost the election when the Democrats pointed out he flipped on his tax raising pledge. ( meanwhile they simply overrode his veto on the subject)

so the history of this compromise is not good.

The bush tax cuts will expire on jan 1 . The president via his functionaries ( Nancy Pelosi et al, is saying that " the President is willing to sign the Middle Class cut pen in hand". THERE IS NO TAX CUT, at best rates will stay the same or go up for the Middle class.

Guys, calm down. It's tradition for the winner and loser to meet. This isn't new. It's to show at least an attempt at bipartisanship. Also, Obama promised he'd meet with Romney. How in the world could this meeting possibly hurt Obama?

    I love our President!

It is so noble for President Obama to reach out to poor Mitt.
How gracious of the President to allow Mitt to see the Oval Office, even if just for a few minutes.
AND, Thanksgiving Day leftovers for lunch too???? Mmmm! Turkey Chili!
    Wow! Frugal AND gracious!
    How could Republicans complain?

Oh, the next four years are really going to be great!
