I was not sure where to make my first post to the RJ but I have been a stalker for a few weeks. All of you guys have been a real inspiration to me as I began my journey to weight loss and fitness at the age of 50. My body was a mess.
I weighed 302 lbs. I have lost 70 lbs and probably want to lose up to 70 more lbs and end up somewhere in the 160s and 170s. Not only was my body a wreck but mentally I was a disaster. As a stalker I have been in closet, and although I still have a LONG journey ahead to get fit, I am proud my accomplishment of being half-way there and I am going to open the obesity closet door. I feel so much better!!
Your incredible physiques have been an inspiration, but equally inspiring is all the knowledge I have gained by learning about nutrition and fitness. This is a great community and I hope that I can offer a fraction of what I've take away in the last few weeks.

Well first off congratulations on losing the 70 lbs!!!

And also it looks like you've gotten in pretty good shape as it is. How long did it take you to lose the 70?

How the fuck do you come out of the obesity closet? You didn't know you were fat? Others didn't know, either?

    Please explain.

    HAHAHA ROFL.

I'm a fat guy stuck in skinny's guys body. I'm officially coming out of the closet today. I also order 300+ twinkles to be delivered to my house before they were no longer available. icon_neutral.gif

Oh but OP good job on the progress man, keep it up!

I think I get it. Your closet is a cyber closet.

Well congrats on both losing the first 70 lbs and also on coming forward as a big man to a community of men that are largely in shape.

I am confident you will get to the size you desire. Be safe and be healthy.

Great job! 70 pounds is no small feat! I commend you on having worked to lose the weight but more than that on your efforts to educate yourself and change habits - that's what will help the progress you've made take root in the long term.

I'm curious too, what were some of the strategies that you used at the beginning on the process? How long did it take you to lose 70?

Correction: Coming out of the Obesity PANTRY. Leave room in the closet for all the gays.

With that bit of insensitive levity out of the way, let me say CONGRATULATIONS! You must feel great not lugging 70 lbs around. Your heart thanks you.

Keep moving forward! Don't go back into the pantry.

P.S. By any chance was your dieting responsible for Hostess going bankrupt?! Well, goodriddence to Hostess and hello to your future being happy, healthy, and fit!

Keep us posted on your progress!

    (in more ways than one)

    Congratualtions on losing 70 pounds!
Look at it this way also, you've done it once, you can do it again.

Why do you say you're a "stalker"? Do you mean "lurker"?? icon_eek.gif

Congratulations on the weight loss. I was 250 when I started a bit over two years ago and am 180 now, heading down even further.

    Awesome job!

I think I understand what you mean by being the closet. I grew up in a family where everyone is overweight and every single male adult I know is between 250 and 300 lbs. So to me being large was normal, and even when people would tell me that I needed to lose weight, I always thought that I should do it, but why, everyone else around here is my size. But deep inside I wanted to be the guy that would go hiking, or swimming, hell just go up the stairs without feeling my lungs were going to collapse. So i get it, you are not alone.

So again congratulations and keep up the good work!

I think LuckguyKC and Ebadger both got what I was trying to say about being in the obesity closet. I had been lurking around RealJock for several months because of my size so I was in a "cyber" closet. In addition I had allowed my weight to push me in the closet to keep from doing things that I want to do such as hiking, running, and cycling. It was really been a "freeing" experience to shed 70 lbs and I am excited about going forward.
