CBS takes down McCain webad, suggests it's 'misleading'

YouTube has removed a webad that casts Sarah Palin as the victim of sexism on the request of CBS, whose anchor Katie Couric was featured in the ad.

“One of the great lessons of that campaign is the continued and accepted role of sexism in American life," Couric is quoted in the ad.

In the original clip, which aired months before Palin entered the race, Couric was talking about Hillary Clinton. The ad applies her words to Palin.

Asked about the ad, CBS spokeswoman Leigh Farris said, "CBS News does not endorse any candidate in the Presidential race. Any use of CBS personnel in political advertising that suggests the contrary is misleading."

YouTube's page displaying the ad now tells visitors, "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by CBS Interactive Inc."

Couric's original commentary can be seen here. McCain still has the ad, "Lipstick," on his website.

So, Katie's words apply to Hillary but not to Sarah, and they're both women.
I see. Does the term double standard apply here?

But the whole thing was about Clinton, not Palin. Just because they are both women doesn't mean it APPLIES to both. You know you can't apply one persons experience to a whole race or gender. We're all different!!

    PLUS

It seems that Palin has no problem with sexism, objectifying herself for sex, or sex for that matter.

    Glad I'm not easily mislead!!

    Hey, John?

You put your left foot in and you shake it all about. You do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around. That's what it's all about.

The McCain/Palin "Mavericks" ad is just as filled with misinformation as the one that CBS 'killed', but so far the only place I've heard a breakdown of what it is in the ad that is directly untrue was on NPR. And if she doesn't pull "I said 'Thanks but no thanks' to Congress on the Bridge-to-nowhere project. Someone will finally call her on it, since she ran her mayoral campaign on the fact that she was saying 'Thank you very much!". It was only after this project was quashed that she turned against it. Even in doing so, she still accepted the $270 Million from Congress. Grrr....

Republicans have a genetic predisposition to believe their own lie after repeating the lie 3 times. In her mind, the truth never happened. When the tree fell in the woods, nobody was around to hear it, it never happened.

Absolutely amazing! How can you not see the sexism in Palin being the VP nominee in order to attract women voters? Palin said in her announcement speech that Hillary garnered 18 million votes in the primaries and Palin was there to seal the deal. How dare she assume women would be dumb in supporting her JUST because she's a woman. Even Sarah Palin is sexist to her own gender!

But you're a Republican; you don't have a normal sense of comprehension skills.

Hey McGay !!!! I hadn't seen this, thanks for posting it. Glad to see some slight fairness in some of these adds !!!! Like the others are saying, it seems these repug adds all have at least one lie in it, but they're no being called on it. I sure as hell hope that in the debates, Obama and Biden hit their apponents hard over the lies and prove that they were lies right to their face !!!! Then we'd see how they react with some "flashbacks" of the truth hit them.
