How many "don't be that guy" guys do you run into in a typical gym week?

Was forwarded this YouTube video from a friend who asked how frequently these guys show up at my gym. I can't answer well because I'm the "go when others aren't around and get my sh*t done guy".

I hate the guys that intentionally slam their weights and like then get up quickly and act so tough when walking away. It's easy to tell intentional vs unintentional. Or the ones who think they are so much cooler because they can lift more when really all they have done is spend more time at the gym....but to answer your question usually 2 or 3 a day.

Only 1, and it's the same guy every day, because I have a home gym. icon_lol.gif

Intentional weight dropping is not douchy... Have you ever done an Olympic lift?

I guess I'm a combo of the showoff, meathead (minus the roids and GNC), and coach, but I don't give unsolicited advice in real life. I will chat with cute guys tho icon_smile.gif

I do Olympic lifts probably way more than you and I DON'T drop weights. Unless there's a wooden platform there that is meant for that, you will break the weights. Then we all get to hate you until they get around (a year later) to replace the ones you broke until you do it again the next year.

    So um...

Rarely am I annoyed by other guys at the gym, but there are a few.

Some guys don't put equipment back where it belongs which makes it necessary to walk all over the gym looking for it. That's especially annoying when it's a bench that is hard to move.

Then there are the guys with ear buds. They can't hear when I ask them whether they are using something until they remove one of the ear buds.

At Defined Fitness, I actually saw a buy with a shirt on which was written, "I pick things up and put them down."

That's what I mean. This guy is saying it is always a douche move to drop weights, and there are quite a few that are not.

My gym has six Olympic platforms for lifting with rubber weights. How is that wrong to drop? I mean if you're dropping a full stack on a cable machine or a bar with metal plates then yeah, but always is not accurate...

And I didn't realize we were having a 'who Olympic lifts more' competition.

That vid was great. I loved "the face."

There's just a couple of guys at my gym that come early around 6am when I'm there. I've dubbed them "The Gorillas." They look like they came from a prison (and probably did). Skin heads, tattoos on their scalps (and I'm not judging characteristics or body manipulation, here) and they're always pumped up on a supplement. They yell, they grunt, they holler. They try to get into arguments with folks (including staff). They seem like someone you'd see a mugshot of on the nightly news that just gunned down everyone at their gym.

That's different. Like what I mean is when it's the machines, like when a guy is doing arms on some machine where you sit down and slams the weights.

I must be really lucky in that I go to a fairly normal gym with no real "characters". Yeah, quite a few of the guys are built and hot, but they're considerate and don't show off, slam weights, etc. Must be something in the water here.

I have not encountered many such dudes, but I do encounter some dudes who while doing squats for some reason push their butt out way too much, but that has never bothered me.

I get the meatheads and the show offs mostly. The dudes who yell, drop the weights 3 feet, talk loudly to their buddies. and the show offs doing stupid routines and making sure everyone sees them

I saw that guy at the grocery one time. He was cute and stacked and the I glanced down and noticed his legs were skinnier than mine. My cashier lady friend and I had a good laugh once he'd gone.
