If you could be "re-born" as a heterosexual woman, would you?

Read carefully before you comment. I'm not asking "Do you wish you were a woman?" or "Do you want to have a sex change?".

Hypothetically, if you were forced to go back in time before you were born, and a "higher being" gave you the option of being born into this world as either a) a homosexual man or b) a heterosexual woman, which would you choose and why? And yes, you can assume that you would know everything you know now about what it is like to live as a gay man...would you still choose to be a gay man, if you had the option of being a straight woman? Do you feel like your life would have been easier if you were born as a female? Or more difficult?

I would choose to be a gay man. I don't like the idea of childbirth and periods and menopause.

I would absolutely be reborn as a heterosexual woman, assuming I was attractive. icon_razz.gif

Actually, I begged God for a long time to do exactly what you stated in your post, because I had such a difficult time dealing with my orientation. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be something God is actually willing to do.

@Fiyero: Your post makes me feel very sad, I am very sorry for you. I hope you have finally adjusted to being gay,, and if not, I hope you find a good therapist to help you feel better about yourself.

No thanks. My emotional life is messed up enough. If you were to throw in hormonal changes, pms, periods and I'd probably be in a straight jacket or worse.

As a woman? Hell no. To have to deal with floppy breasts, bras, spank pants, and monthly periods? Not to mention high heels, stockings, and dresses. When instead I can have all these wonderful men, and never a fear of getting pregnant and maybe having to worry about can I get an abortion, or will the Christians make me die instead like happened to that woman just the other day in Ireland.

This whole post reminds me of Norse or Germanic mythic stories, like where the fisherman got to make 3 wishes, but got his just desserts also. If
the Gods granted a wish to be reborn as a woman, who's to say that that woman might not get breast cancer when she's 21, or ovarian cancer when she's 30? What more pleasant ways to end the wish than these?

Huh? I fail to see your distinction. However you phrase it, you're asking would we prefer to be a woman.

My answer is that I enjoy being a man, and would not prefer to be a woman. And that includes enjoying being a gay man, a life that makes me very happy & content.

My only issues are external ones, coming from other people who have their own problems with gays, and want to impose their ideas & values on me, to penalize me for who I am. Within me I have no conflicts, no regrets.

Any problems are generated from outside by meddlers, mostly religious fundamentalists and politicians from the Right. Left to my own devices I haven't any complaint about my orientation, and certainly not about my gender.

And when you think about it there is no benefit to being a woman. Not saying being a woman is bad but being a woman means you face real dsicrimation right off the back. Not saying gay men don't face discrimination but you can hide being gay pretty well if you work at it. But unless you're willing to go all Mulan on society there's no hiding you're a woman. And don't be a black or Latino woman. It's hard cold uncaring world out there for women of color.

What does this have to do with anything?

The scenario runs counter the prime directive.

(unless if maybe they're the Ori)

Heterosexual women can't workout and jack off to their own bodies in the mirror on slow nights, so I'd rather be a homosexual man.
