Yesterday (9/11) in my mailbox I found a DVD-R in a ziplock bag that had written on it, "you have been lied to!" The message was intended to look like it was handwritten with a felt tip pen but I think it was probably mass produced. The DVD (which curiosity compelled me to play) turned out to be a tract accusing the US government of somehow orchestrating the 9/11 attacks. I only watched about a minute of it before losing interest.

One of the things that struck me as funny: in the minute or so that I watched, they claimed their theories have the support of several knowledgable figures - engineers, firefighters, former intelligence agents, etc - but somehow they couldn't find a decent narrator. The voice-over on the video sounded like a guy in his early 20s with no broadcast experience whatsoever.

The DVD was not sent through the mail. It was placed in my mailbox by parties unknown. I'm curious as to how widespread this was, and what kind of distribution network they have. It seems astonishing to me that a group of crazies (who aren't postal workers) could mass deliver thousands of DVDs to mailboxes across the country in a single day. Then again it's an election year, so I have to wonder if this isn't a scheme by some political party to discredit the Republicans. Major political parties in a presidential election year are the only entities I can think of with enough volunteer labor to pull off this kind of mass distribution.

Did any of you receive it?

By the way, whoever delivered the DVD even raised the little flag on my mailbox, which speaks to the deliverer feeling like he/she had a personal stake in my receiving it. Certainly not the work of some pennies-per-hour illegal alien labor.

Six hours and not a single reply. Hmm. So I guess I'm the only one who got the DVD?

    Weird indeed.

Wonder who's funding them. You get all sorts of crazies these days. But then again the end is near! It always is, but like the stone you throw at the tree, in terms of space-time, it is already there, or is infinitely getting closer but will never touch the tree. Ah, I love my paradoces.

Strange. I'm not sure I would have touched it.

If I were you, I'd be offended someone thought you were loopy enough to consider it.

These are probably the wackos that interrupt Bill Maher's show and other talk shows trying to get their point heard. I think there is a name for their group, but I'm not spending time on them to research it.
