Thursday night the Islander's Chris Simon took exception to a hard check to the boards and used his stick to tomahawk-chop a New York Ranger - Ryan Hollweg.

If you've haven't seen the attack, gotta check it out on ESPN. It's amazingly brutal.

    Two questions..

1.) What should his suspension be?

2.) Can/Should criminal assault charges be filed here? Any NY attorneys out there with some insight into this? The Nassau County DA's office is supposedly reviewing now.

Season ticket holder for the Rangers here and I would say this even if I weren't:

    1) should be banned for life

    2) criminal charges can be filed and should be filed.

There is no place in hockey - or any sport for that matter - for that type of behavior.

Gotta agree with u Virgo....I think the 25-game suspension was too light....1-year would have been more appropriate.

Criminal charges should be filed. If Simon swung a bat at someone on the street he'd have been locked up immediately. At least in a barfight you can say you were drunk....
