USA'S SHIFTING ATTITUDES TOWARD GAY MEN AND LESBIANS
The United States has seen dramatic changes in recent years in attitudes on issues ranging from permitting gay men and lesbians to serve openly in the military to allowing them to marry. A USA TODAY/Gallup Poll looks at where the public stands now, and a separate survey of gay men and lesbians explores their perspective.

What a great article. Very informative and to the point. I would like to think that we are evolving as a nation and as a society. Very glad to see that among the younger generation the overwhelming majority accept equal rights for LGBT people. Good for them!

I have noticed this as well. When I was in High School there were no gay clubs, nothing for gay youth. I am ecstatic that there are openly gay celebrities, gay shows. I do believe we are evolving as a nation and slowly doing away with discrimination.

Good news so perhaps Americans can come together and stop the president from funding the execution of gays in foreign countries like Sudan and Nigeria by cutting off US foreign aid.

I am very happy that the US is rapidly moving in the right direction in regards to full equality for gay and lesbian Americans. Finally all those decades of fighting for positive change are coming to fruition. It is too bad that all these positive developments didn't occur in the late 1970s when I was in high school.

What a great article! Thank you for sharing.

If anyone wants to bet on the last state to legalize gay marriage, I have 20 bucks that says it's Utah.

I agree with you 100% about Utah being the last state to legalize gay marriage. I think the second to last state will be Texas because of the strong grip that religious extremists have on state government and most county and local governments.

Nice article. I'd agree with the statement that people attitudes are changing and I think it has a lot to do with gays and lesbians actually coming out of the closet and letting themselves be known. . . Like the article said.. people who dont know any gay ppl, only can know what they see and hear about it, but when they have a friend or family member who is gay, it becomes personal and they realize it's not a scary thing.

Republicans need to go f**k themselves. Why is it we as a society need to listen to these backward, selfish morons every time anyone is championing a progressive idea. They opposed Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, civil rights for blacks, minimum wage, gay equality, on and on and on and on...

Actually not all republicans are bad. There is an extreme, right wing element in the GOP that needs to go fuck itself. All the narrow minded, bible thumping screwballs along with the war mongering neocons need to be evicted from the GOP and pushed into the outermost margins of society.

How many times today have you thumped that bible or is it just a keyboard macro that you insert in most every post?
