I thought I'd make this topic as a place for people to ask for gift suggestions for people they are buying gifts for others for Christmas/Hanukkah/[insert other gift-giving winter holiday here], OR to post what you're planning on getting for the people in your life that you care most about.

I have no idea what to get for my mom or my stepmom...

My mom loves reading fiction, mostly drama. Books that I know she enjoyed are Life of Pi and The Hunger Games. She also reads a lot of books that I'm guessing are geared more towards women, because she shares them with her girl friends and whenever she tells me about a book she's read it's usually a drama with a woman as the main character. In the past I've also given her a nice accessory like a scarf that I know will go with what she wears.

I'm not even really sure what my stepmom is interested in. She's Chinese so most of the books she reads and movies she watches aren't anything I've ever heard of. She's not interested in fashion, mostly just cooks Chinese food, and doesn't really go out anywhere much. I usually get her a nice box of chocolates because I know she likes to have a chocolate every once in a while.

For my boyfriend I got him a pair of Bose Companion 2 speakers. He's into music and used to play gigs and produce his own music when he was younger, but he has really shitty computer speakers that are literally from the dollar store. Whenever I've listened to any music on his computer I'm just dumbfounded by how bad his speakers are, so I wanted to get him a new pair that will actually work nicely, especially because he's recently been trying to find somebody to produce music with again.

I know there's a couple of better brands than Bose but they don't sell those brands at anywhere I know of and I don't want to order online.

For my Dad, it's his birthday as well, so I'm thinking of getting him a couple of books. He does a lot of reading, and is especially interested in WW2 history, and he told me recently that he's become increasingly interested in China's history.
I was thinking of picking up a book that was recommended to me by a bookstore salesperson that's about a guy in WW2 whose plane crashes into the sea, and he survives, but ends up being captured by the enemy and so on... apparently it's an amazing story.

The other book is a newly released book about the life of Mao:

Those are some great gift ideas.
I need to think of something for my boy too.

I'm having a hard time thinking of something practical/useful for him.

I like the speakers u got for your boyfriend.. very nice.

That was a cute little story about ur Chinese step-mom too "shes like to have a chocolate" awwwwh, so cute.

Does ur mom have an e-reader? Like a Nook? iPad? or other device she could read all her books on?

For your mom and step mom, have you thought about a Pandora bracelet? You can't go wrong with Jewelry and around Christmas time you can usually get the charms for a good price. I got my grandmother one and she's been telling us that ALL we have to get her are new charms...she loves collecting them and changing them when she goes out. icon_smile.gif But good gift ideas so far!!

I think they fit on the Pandora bracelets too, if it doesn't say on the website you could try e-mailing them and asking.
