Can people tell you're gay from how you act?

I consider myself more in the middle gender role wise. I don't purposely try to come off as feminine but a friend of mine recently informed me that I swish my hips a lot when I talk and I didn't realize that lol. Apparently I also have a high voice. It doesn't sound that high to me but a former Co worker informed me recently that he was not expecting my voice to come out of my body. Lol I've been getting that a lot.

Can people tell you're gay from how you talk and act?

They sure used to pick me out of the crowd when I was a young twink. Now I'm not so sure, what with the beard and all the metrosexuals blurring the lines.

No ones been able to tell so far. My voice is a little higher than I'd like though, but that's probably my only tell.

I've had people thing I'm gay without telling them. I've also had gay guys who refuse to accept that I am gay. lol. The gayness comes from the fact that I actually pay attention to how I look and my voice. hah.

No they can't because I am masculine. I don't advertise my sexuality.

not_superman saidDo you believe that guys choose how masculine they are?

Do you also believe that being gay is a choice?

Where did I say that I did?

Some people do put a conscious effort into how masculine they are to avoid being seen as a gay.

I never said I people can choose to be gay. What the fuck does this have to do with the actual thread? Do you just enjoy bothering me? Lol.

I see no problem with this thread, which to me is more about "can people tell you are?"

Usually, most people either can't tell or they're left scratching their heads. I don't tend to stand out in crowds, which means people don't notice enough about me and my mannerisms to slap the "gay" label on me.

When I was in my teens, everyone would mistake me for a girl ... it use to make me so mad ... it took me a really long time to come out, but looking back I realize, the person I was fooling was my self. Now, I think people look at me and think I'm straight, but I think once I open my mouth, I give myself away. My voice now is a lot more raspy, I think from years of drinking and smoking, that and I was trying to get this radio spot just right in college, and I spent probably about 2 or 3 hours just reciting it over and over and over again, until I think I finally permanently damage my vocal chords. So now people can't tell so easily, but if I listen to myself talk on a recording, all I can think of is ... ick ... I sound so gay. And the funny thing is that in my own head and through my own ears, I sound absolutely nothing like what I hear on a recording. Oh well, there are worse things in life, and I don't think people hold it against me too often. Ya, there have been few jerks, but mostly it has been very good throughout my life.
