Anyone watch Bill Moyers, on PBS last night? One segment was about the conservative talk show hosts and the hate speech that is coming from them. It was one of the scariest pieces I have seen. Basically I came away from it feeling that they are telling people to go out and kill gays, liberals and anyone who disagrees with them. It was incredible, I can see where a lot of the Republicans, and people who listen to it, are getting all there distortions from. If you can find it, watch it, it will give you a wake up call, if you haven't already had one.

I'll make it a point to try and watch it.. on Youtube or somewhere else. Thanks for the tip. It doesn't surprise me, however.

I think it's hilarious that people say that academia being liberal is somehow an argument against liberals.

It's almost as stupid as saying that it is an argument for conservatism that uneducated people are more conservative... although that argument is also made by some.

The report you speak of is coming from Bill Moyers..who is infamous for his own extreme unprecedented liberal biased point of view.

Everyone knows that the media leans clearly to the left. In fact the media cosnists of 80% of Democrat/liberals. And most report with a left wing liberal agenda. It is sooooo clear when watching/listening to them.

Just over the last 10 years the conservative talk shows have come about and it is about time. I mean remember before cable? The conservatives had ZERO voices and instead the American household was subjected to the big 3 (Rather, Jennings and Tom Brokaw) who consistently reported the news with subliminal and sometimes obvious liberal and biased agenda

In fact the Democrats/Liberals have arguably the 3 most influential entities supporting them
    1: Media
    2: Hollywood
    3: Academia (Universtites/Colleges)

and yet they still can't persuade the American people to vote in a liberal Democrat President (20 out of 28 previous years of Republican presidents)

Just watch the show, and you will see numerous examples of hate speech. I guess when you see them on camera telling people to get guns to kill liberals, it raises a concern.

PBS is very liberal and lie to make conservatives look evil. I ma sure there may be some gay bashers out there that try to pedal themselves as conservatives but do not believe them. Try to listen to the Rush Limbaugh radio show Monday-Friday. He is very funny, well informed and very intelligent. He is a real good guy; you will see that if you actually listen to him. Watch John Hannity of FOX news or listen to his radio show, he is fantastic. I know these are good men and they are the best that conservative talk show has to offer. They also have the largest audiences than all of the liberal newscasters combined! Before you just listen to one persons ignorant point of view, dare to judge for yourself. Do not take my word for it, listen to them for yourself. Ignorant people preach hate, NOT conservatives. You are labeling conservatives as being evil. I am BI. I am Very conservative, and I am not a hatter, nor do I listen to anyone who preaches hate. PBS preaches hate; you should lighten up and watch FOX news instead. Let go of the ignorance, let go of hate and hug a conservative today.icon_biggrin.gif

Seems like it is the conservative themselves that make themselves look bad, all you have to do is watch what they say and you get many examples.

I'm pretty sure most guys have exposed themselves to the conservative talk shows and formed their opinions. I agree with them on few things.

I love the conservative and reactionary radio and TV hosts. They are like granite, immobile and crushing.

Against what else will I sharpen my knife?

I particularly like the Obama/O'Reilly interview. Great TV, and I got to see Obama step up to the plate and not pussy around. O'Reilly called him rambling, and his constant interruptions were meant to keep him on focus. Whatever. If Obama can lead this nation, he has to demonstrate that ability against the worst of us, not just the polite intellectuals.

I say, bring it on. Smart people aren't intimidated by Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly, Beck or their mouth-breathing minions. They're fuel for the fire.

yep and as soon as the democrats are put into a corner, they begin with name calling, is this not hate too? I've been called names by democrats, because I don't see things their way, thus a victim of their hate. I love the fact that the last four letters in democrats, is rats.

Republicans are so conflicted with themselves, all you have to do is let them talk and it is so evident why this country is in such a mess.

I see you have a problem with the freedom of speech and expression. The trashing of Jonathon Crutchley is a sign of things to come. If anyone is a danger to the first amendment it's people like you and Bill Moyers.

Hopefully we can start tying hate speech to bigotry, discrimination and physical crimes that has come from the right wing talk show hosts and begin to sue their producers, companies and themselves and jail them if it can be found their speech has contributed to crimes, discrimination etc. This worked quite well to help get rid of the ku klux klan and their followers.

    Hummm..
    Reverend Wright.
    William Aires.
    Louis Farrakhan.

These are just three tied to Obama. If you want more, easily provided.
Did you hear them laughing when Tony Snow or other "conservatives" have died? Oops, sorry, that was the left in this country.

It is not the conservatives who wish you harm here..just have to get past the mist to see that.

More made-up bullshit. In the 2000 election, newspaper reporters voted 2-to-1 for Bush. When you included publishers, it rose to 3-to-1. This was the finding of a comprehensive survey by Editor and Publisher, the press' principal trade journal. Anyone actually working in mainstream media outside the NY Times knows the idea that liberals are running the media is absurd (and the Times -- remember Judy Miller? -- ain't that liberal; they run plenty of conservative commentary).

As for broadcast media, you have got to be kidding. The vast majority of radio talk shows are by conservatives. The vast majority of guests and journalists on the Sunday TV shows are conservatives (repeated studies have show this). The only left-leaning shows I can think of, besides Moyers (who is on PBS), are Keith Olbermann and the new Rachel Maddow show.

Are you even remotely aware of what has transpired at PBS in the last few years? The board, political appointees of the Bush administration, is mostly Republicans. The chairman, Kenneth Tomlinson, resigned in anticipation of an investigation's finding that he was submitting programming to political tests to favor Republicans, among other things.

The truth is that you don't want to see ANY left-oriented programming, and yet you happily promote Rush, Sean (not John, by the way) Hannnity, etc., who make no attempt themselves to hide their rightwing agenda.

"Tied to." LOL. Any association becomes "tied to" if it contributes to your smear campaign.

Let's see. John McCain is "tied to" Jerry Falwell (formerly an "agent of intolerance" while alive). Cheney and Rumsfeld are "tied" to Saddam Hussein for their earlier support of his regime. George Bush is "tied to" the 9/11 hijackers because of his family association with the royal Saudi family (sayeth Michael Moore, following your very own logic). Sarah Palin is tied to Russia, cuz she can see it out her window.

If you want more, easily provided. icon_lol.gif

You call someone out by saying they are stating "made-up bullshit" by spewing a bunch of made-up bullshit? A comprehensive study by Editor and Publisher? Oh, come on...

The fact that every conservative, most moderates, and no liberals whatsoever think there is a general, liberal bias in the media is all the proof anyone needs to show there probably is a bias. The degree of the bias is debateable. The fact that it exists is surely deniable, but people can also deny the Earth is round.

"The only people who don't think that their is a liberal-leaning bias are those people who are even further to the left than that very media." --Andy Rooney, self-admitted liberal journalist on Phil Donahue's now-cancelled MSNBC show.

SEE THAT IS THE DISTINCT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONSERVATIVES AND LIBERALS. CONSERVATIVES BELIEVE THIS COUNTRY IS NOT A MESS (ALTHOUGH REALIZE AMERICA IS NOT PERFECT EITHER)..AS TO WHERE LIBERALS ARE CONSISTENTLY TRASHING THIS COUNTRY STATING HOW BAD IT IS AND WHAT A MESS IT IS. IN REALTY ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS LIVE IN MOST OTHER COUNTRIES ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD AND YOU WILL CLEARLY AND QUICKLY SEE THAT THIS COUNTRY, AMERICA, IS NOT THE MESS YOU THINK IT IS

    .
Why do you think I made this up? Here, for one example, is the roster of newspapers that endorsed Bush and Gore in the 2000 election. I'll leave it to you to do the counting.

    http://www.gwu.edu/~action/natendorse5.html

Nor do I understand why you think I made up the poll that E&P took. YOu won't like the secondary source -- Alterman's "What Liberal Media" -- but nobody's questioned the veracity of the poll. Do you know something about E&P that I don't know?

I'm sorry these facts counter what you regard as "obvious" but it is equally obvious to many others that the press is in no way liberally biased overall. If you detect ANY liberal bias you generalize it.

Do you also think I made up the business about PBS and the effort by the Bush administration to use it politically? You have secret information about the House investigation? Why did Tomlinson REALLY resign? I want to know.

By the way: The sun appears to revolve around the earth. Really, it does. So it must be true.
