    Lads,

The dawn of 2013 is nigh and it's to start spruiking your causes/charities in time for New Years Resolutions ..

I am a huge fan of Transparency International who name and shame corrupt officials and governments around the world.

It's important to acknowledge the significant role corruption plays in the provision of essential services such as food and medical aid in the developing world.

Transparency aims to educate and empower victims of corruption and break the silence surrounding it.

    Okay .. your turn! :p

    Great Cause! Corruption destroys society.

Corruption is also in every society but can be minimized by transparency.

My closest personal cause is 'Children's Literarcy'. I give to my local library and I serve on the board.

Teaching children to love reading and information gathering will make them stronger for life.

Anything to do with education. Education is the slow process of information replication. Since unlike single cells we cannot replicate and be equipped with the knowledge, information, and experience we've learned up to the point of replication...we have to do so through an external manner rather than an internal one. We reproduce without replication. Education is our process of replication . It should not only be reinforced, but cemented in every community and civilization and at the fingertips of all our reproduction, as if it's a part of existing.

On more a specific level, I promote and support vigorous vetting of our educators. We are entrusting the system we use for replication with these people.

On a more personal level, I support that each community have the right to dictate the information replicated, and it shouldn't be a blanket rule for all.

Even if you have little or no money to give, the cause you care about needs support in other ways too.

Visit a nonprofit's site and checkout the volunteer possibilities.

    In USA: http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org

    In South Africa: http://www.msf.org.za

    International: http://www.msf.org

its the worlds leading independent medical humanitarian organisation, which is funded primarily by private citizens' donations - not governments, not corporations - and 80% of those funds go to their field operations. Its true that there are no small donations. A big portion of their money comes from people making modest monthly $20 gifts. I know this because I work for them. icon_smile.gif

I will save the date and be in Fort Lauderdale for the AIDS walk, thanks for the heads up. I tend to give money to larger charitites and time to smaller, more local causes. Here we have OUTreach at the church, the Harry Chapin Food Bank, The Humane Society, The Paul Mitchell Anti Bullying Campaign, and LIGHT, which unfortunately is disbanding on 12/31/2012. icon_cry.gif
