We should be asking all the candidates, Presidential and Vice-Presidentional, Congressional, Gubernatorial and State Legislative, even all local candidates for any elected office. And we should be asking each other before we go any further.

    That question is:

"How are we going to pay for this?"

Without an answer to this question all other questions are irrelevant!

Democrat answer: raise taxes. Republican answer: raises taxes cause it was our idea first.

Great question. If you ask John McSame how we will pay for his tax cuts, he'll give you the same answers he has been giving for 20 years:

    -- ending congressional pork-barrel spending
    -- cut unnecessary government programs
-- overhauling "entitlement" programs such as Medicare and Social Security.

Blah blah blah ... those are some real maverick ideas! Minus the Social Security and Medicare bit, I think he lifted those talking points from his pal Grover Cleveland.

What's so sad about John McCain is that in 2000, I actually admired him and said, "Wow, there's a Republican I wouldn't mind in office."

But he has lost all his street cred in pandering to the basest, knee-jerk, dumb-it-down contingent of the Republican party.

And Hockey Mom for Prez only makes that descent more tragic.

McCain will probably dodge the answer and let the "bankrupcy of the US fall where it may....."

and I too admired McCain in 2000

An understanding of tax policies is important to understand this.
So, not overly complex. Do you want the government to use your money to pay for more pet bridges to nowhere, monuments to themselves; or, would you like to spend your own money to drive the economy?
As far as tax cuts, see the above. You spend, it drives the economy. They spend and take, a large portion gets siphoned for "administrative" costs, then, someone who they think needs it more than you gets it.
There will always be like the socialists out there who believe that what I have should be theirs, and those like me who believe in self reliance. Just because some ass passes a law, and some judge says it is cool to take what I earn, does not make it right.
And yes, I make great money, and I do tire of the "class warfare" game that goes on all the time.
Flat tax handles this, but..then they lose control of things, and that can not happen.
Fear the government that fears you..
