And the right was bemoaning the failure of big government NASA to maintain the glorious space shuttle program. icon_confused.gif

Much to their shame (that of many on the right - not all).

I have a mild fear of flying. I'll get on an airplane but with eerie superstitions swimming in head. I have no desire to orbit the earth in a tincan. That said, a vacation to the moon would so be worth it. icon_smile.gif

Find me one (a veritable conservative) that wasn't damning Obama about his lack of American pride in space exploration. icon_lol.gif

riddler78 must live the most depressing life imaginable...

He seems to spend all the time bemoaning the lack of fiscal discipline of a country he doesn't even live in. And he's helping destroy the country he does live in by outsourcing jobs to China!

Despite all that is awful about the cold war, the space program had a higher value than merely dollars: it lifted humanity up to the stars. And our future, our very long term survival, depends on this.

There are plenty of libertarians who pointed out that Obama was doing the right thing when it came to space exploration. You can start at reason.com or even the author of the OP link.
