Who can't stand being called either of these terms. Boo sounds so childish and Baby, well that is an infant. Not getting into the whole pet name deal I just hear these a lot and can't stand them for some reason. BB is just as bad online too!

I'd be pretty happy if nearly anyone were to be calling me nearly anything, but I agree that these terms are not exactly compatible with my self image.

    I don't mind baby, but I don't like boo.

My boyfriend and I call eachother babe/baby once in a while, but we usually go for something more original/personalized.

    He's my honeybum / handsomeness crumble icon_smile.gif

    Likewise!

I work with an African-American woman who calls me boo and it doesn't bother me. Probably explains why we get along so well.

Where I'm from baby, boo, child, etc are terms that even just close friends or people you work with my call you. Maybe it's a Southern thing but I have no problem with it.

I think more original pet names are cute though.

But who popularized "boo" as a term of endearment? I get where it comes from, but somehow it made it into the lexicon of wannabees.
