A&E's BATES MOTEL is a contemporary/modern take on the story of Norman Bates, of PSYCHO, & the events leading up to Psycho.

    I'm pretty stoked for it!

Trailer for television series is below:

That's what I've extrapolated from the promos...

It's very intriguing. Interesting to see a take on the beginnings of a psychosis. Tonight's episode was great!

Did not see tonights yet but I am so loving this. My favorite show on right now.

The characters are so fucked up in their own ways. Sometimes they have their shit together but they are one step away from cracking. Vera Farmagia is incredible as Norma, such a mindfuck on Norman. Norman is a basketcase already. I like the brother who totally reads Norma...whoever is supplying his lines must be some gay queen because they give him the funniest stuff to say. and the wtf is up with that girl, is the cop really the one that kept her. So many different ways this show can go.

Yeah, I think I'll turn off before the teasers. What I like about the show, especially tonight, is how real some of the dialogue is. I especially like how what you thought might happen in certain cases (no spoiler) didn't. You really do feel sorry for Norman; at least I do.

Another great episode, and it took all that I could muster not to watch next week's preview after that ending tonight.

I had to grab the remote and couldn't find the mute button, so I covered my ears and was like, nope, nope, don't listen, don't listen. Those teasers come way too close to the end of the show.

On another note, I discovered a movie on Netflix called "Down to the Bone" with Vera Farmiga (Norma Bates) who plays a recovering drug addict. Hope to watch it soon.

The network (A&E) is thoroughly behind the Production.

There was never a pilot episode - the Suits ordered 10 episodes up front - a rarity.

It has also been renewed for a 2nd season and is being sold abroad.

It will begin airing in England soon (Freddie Highmore is actually British).

True however it's advertised ALOT during commercial breaks + the ratings are the highest ever on the A&E network.

Glad they've been brought back for another season. I really like Vera's acting and the lines they are given. And you really do feel for Norman, at least I do. If they maintain the struggle within him of being human and downright deviant, the show will work well.

Too funny, I couldn't find where I left the remote...I literally jumped to my feet and ran....yes, I wish they would give you some kind of a warning before they preview next week's episode...gives too much away, the best part of watching the show is seeing all the different layers develop along with the unexpected twists in the plot.

Vera Farmiga is fantastic as Norma, I will definitely look for "Down to the Bone."
I find it easy to empathize with Norman, he's a fascinating case study. You can start to see how everything is beginning to line up, giving the viewer insight to how he turned out as an adult....I hope the writers continue to keep him real and stretch it further before Norman begins to act out a-la Psycho.

A triumph of the show and writers (and one of the reasons the show has legs) is that viewers are sympathetic to and rooting for Norman even tho We all know where is going.
