Short Version: Aside from a gift card to the local sporting goods store - what' an appropriate gift for a personal trainer?

    TL/DR

I have a great trainer and would like to do something nice for him for Christmas. In fact, he's such a nice guy that a month or so ago, my shoes were really worn out and had holes in them. I told him I was going to ask my family for shoes for my birthday and just wait it out. Instead, he refused to let me pay him that week and had me take that money and go ahead and buy new shoes.

We only have a Hibbet's sports in my little town and he will likely give all his clients a gift card for that store. So, I really don't want to get him a Hibbet's gift card, too. That seems tacky.

    So any ideas?

And before you go there, he's straight, has a fiance' and two little girls from a prior marriage.

A gift card is a solves-all solution for difficult gifts. With a fiancé and kids get him a card at a department store. He can buy toys, clothes, whatever.

Or a card for a restaurant, a place the kids can go, too. I don't know where you live, so no suggestions. You didn't state a budget limit, but for 4 I'd say about $80 for dinner with 2 kids, $100 for a store. Do it soon, so they can enjoy it before Christmas.

Hmm... do you know anything specific he likes? Maybe some type of board game him and his family can all play together (depending on the age of his daughters). Gift cards are good choices but I just feel so... wrong doing it 0_0!

Gift card sounds like a good idea. I don't know the guy so I can't really say.

I have been looking at board games, but nothing really jumped out at me.

I like Tony's idea of a movie gift card.

We have two multiplex movie theaters, so I might split the difference and get him movie passes for each because some movies play at one and some at the other, but they are owned by two different companies.

I am still open to suggestions, but that is a great idea.

    Thanks everyone!

A gift card is always a great idea when you don't know exactly what to get someone. Whether it is for the movies, a restaurant, a store. A massage also sounds like a good idea.

A visa or mastercard gift card, something he can use anywhere he wants.

Whether it is massage, food, vacation...

I gave my gym buddy, who is a bodybuilder a $40 gift card to a very popular meat store called Omaha Steaks here in Michigan, very high end meat. I figured a bodybuilder would enjoy $40 worth of gourmet meat, and he really loved it. Just an idea

TheGuyNextDoor saidYou know,, someone at work gave me $35.00 to a Cinemark theater the other day and it really came in handy this afternoon when we went to see Skyfall. Movie passes during the holiday are fun and easy.

I like this idea. When kids are young they love going to movies with their Dads. When kids are older Dads love letting their kids use their movie passes to get them out of the house for a few hours.

I got one of these two christmases ago. It is the handiest thing for smoothies or protein shakes.

It's kinda pricey...$100 icon_eek.gif but you get two systems. One for him, one for you.

With a fiancee and two young girls . . . something for him and his family

Gift card that can be used online is great, they can decide what they need/want

Maybe something more for his kids if you are aware of their likes/dislikes

He sounds like a great guy.

I don't have any suggestion, but I do want to say that you and your trainer are good examples of what human beings ought to be.

Thank you so much Dominus, that was very nice to say. I am very lucky to have found a trainer like this. icon_cool.gif

It's also nice that we are the same age.
