I don't think its a commercial for anything, just some English moneyed type having a thrash in an expensive car.
Totally something I'd do and so fun..

Reminds me of the Rolls Royce that did the Paris-Dakar in the 80's

I thought it was a pretty stupid video to be honest. I giant man-made machine ripping nature apart doesn't make my dick hard.

The giant man-made machine is wonderful, but tearing up the field isn't my thing either.

It's almost not even worth doing with that car considering its power output for that price.

Worth doing it because a Rolls would be among the cars I'd least expect to see tearing up some pristine countryside.

I suspect that it was part of a safety video for potential customers to say yes, we can even get you to safety by driving off road.

yeah, the chrysler copied the Rolls. It was still a concept when the Phantom entered the market.

I wasn't interested in who copied who.... I always have my eyes on my own paper. I simply said a resemblance in the exterior. LoL Happy new year Roadster

that's all well and good however in any way insinuating that a Rolls looks like anything other than a Rolls is borderline insulting to the car, heheh. Especially something as cheaply-made as the pre-Fiat Chrysler 300. If you'd said it the other way around, i.e. "You know I think the Chrysler 300 looks a lot like the Rolls Royce Phantom" then we wouldn't be having this nice little chat icon_biggrin.gif

I think the film tried to show that a Rolls or Bentley is fun to drive and not just a car where everything is so smooth & quiet that all you hear is the clock tick. They want to appeal to younger drivers & steal them away from BMW and other fun-to-drive cars.

While that's certainly possible, I'm thinking its more like a previous poster suggested, that It shows that the car isn't just a huge boat. Someone in a priority position who may come under fire wants to know that his vehicle can get him safely away from danger in any situation. That often requires high-speed handling as well as driving in adverse conditions at speed. For a long time I've held fast to my belief that anyone who buys one of these cars to drive themselves is a moron. But for purely selfish reasons. You see, the best part of a Rolls is the back seat! Why miss out on that, or worse, only let friends enjoy it!

I don't get it. How is it rally car? You can do donuts and drifts with any car, on a grassy muddy field. icon_lol.gif

    These are rally cars..

you know, i got caught up in the whole Rolls Royce debate that the use of the term "rally car" completely slipped my mind. You're right, its an incorrect usage of the term (and i ought to be ashamed, since my first motorsports obsession was WRC)

I still think the best automotive short of a British motorcar is this:

of a V8 Vantage from a couple of years ago. Not terribly fast, but what sound!
