In the next few weeks I need to buy an auto. What should I buy? I have thought about a electric SUV, a jeep wrangler, or a BMW ... any thoughts?

Your profile suggests vintage Toyota FJ40. Gets you out of the city, carries all your stuff, not afraid of getting dirty and thumbs its nose at the poseurs.

But don't get an auto, get a manual (transmission).

You'll get as many different opinions as there are guys who post on this thread. Why would you consider a truck? I am happy with my 4WD Ford Ranger extended cab - no maintenance problems in 80,000 miles, driver is high off the ground, lots of room, very comfortable, lots of power, and gets me through mountain snow and muddy backroads (otherwise would not have a 4WD) and gets terrible gas mileage. My other car is a Prius - not sexy, but great mileage. Except for the Prius, have never owned an automatic transmission vehicle.

Electric SUV, a jeep wrangler, or a BMW? That's a wide range. What will you be using it for?

I just had a 2012 X3 while my car was being serviced. I tried to drive the piss out of that thing but it just smiled and took all I dished. Id definitely recommend one, either the 6 or base model (just get the sport package).

I drive a dodge ram 3500 2012 and I love it! I would recommend it. My cousin has a jeep wrangler that's a great ride also!

I own a 1999 LC TD serie 105 , except for the weak front differential , it has been flawless . I replaced the differential from Toyota with an ARB , and no more problem , and i off-road towing my 3 tons caravan all over Northern QLD
