Interesting...I didn't realize he was HIV positive. And it then made me think about how young porn stars live. I wonder why folks enter into the profession when the average life expectancy is around 30-something...

Adult Superstar Josh Weston succumbed to HIV-related complications on Sunday, December 16. He was 39 years old. Weston started his career in 2001 as a Falcon Exclusive, starring some of their biggest hits from the early 2000s. After leaving that contract went on to work with other studios including Hot House where he headlined our hits Trunks 3 and Communion. Always warm and friendly and ready to laugh, Josh was loved by many and will be missed by all.

That makes me sad. I think he was one of the most physically beautiful men of his generation; maybe any generation. The only porn DVD I've ever purchased is "Quarterback Sack", one of Weston's Falcon titles. I saw his picture on the cover and next thing I knew, I'd bought the thing.

I imagine to a lot of the young men on here, 39 seems quite old. Believe me - it's very, very young.

yeah it sucks.. and for a 39 year old not living in a 3rd world country it really shouldnt be happening.. guys are living much past that age and these are guys that have had HIV for decades.. there are other things that may be involved that would speed up the disease for guys in porn, such as steroids. I would imagine it is a tough critical business where guys will do anything to stay in shape..

    sidenote... ouch

Very sad ... I don't think they think of the life expectancy ... they just think of the money and there is a sort of fame that goes along with it. And I'm sure they make a lot of friends in the industry and they probably go to some fun crazy wild parties ... everyone knows the rich pay really well ... so you fuck some old man and make a quick two, three, four, five grand .... most people take a month to make that, and they will make it in a night ... and there is probably a bit of a sex addiction for some or maybe they think they can't do anything else

Sad to hear. I had never heard of Josh Weston, but I'm wondering why he passed away? If he started in the business in 2001, and there are so many good HIV meds available these past 10 years or more, why wasn't he on them? Or did the meds just not work for him? I'm just confused as to why he had to die? Poor guy.

I think he's done bareback porn on/off over the years. I don't think we'll ever know exactly how/why he died. Everything is speculation at this point.

No one ever dies from HIV it is always something else but they always call it HIV related. HIV is the body's inability to fight of infections, you loose your immune system and sometimes medications of other illnesses aren't always effective. And if people don't take the meds religiously, it can actually prove to be worse because the virus can build up an immunity to the meds

I'm sure it's sad for his family and friends, but the guy was a porn star. Who cares?

I'm going to be very disappointed if this doesn't erupt into a flamewar like the Erik Rhodes thread.

The evangelical preacher whose data you cited here took a simple average of a random sampling of porn stars' ages at time of death and conveniently neglects the fact that for each dead one on the list there are dozens of others who are still alive and kicking; and he won't know their death ages for decades. He clearly has an agenda, calling porn stars "immoral" and "fornicators," so I see this data as complete bullshit.

I'm not saying that porn isn't a difficult lifestyle, because for some I know it is, but the majority of people I know do it for a few years then move on to something else. When I moved to San Francisco, I was jokingly told porn here is like jury duty -- just about everyone gets a chance -- so I've met and become friends with a lot of people in the business. Just like everyone else, some of them have issues with drugs or alcohol, some of them are HIV+, and some of them just enjoy sex in front of a camera. They are people though, not objects, and deserve just as much dignity as you or I do.

Unfortunately, the AIDS miracle drugs do not work miracles for all who take them. I have a couple of HIV+ friends, who have had the virus for years, and have had all the new medications medically appropriate for them, and while they are not dying, you could not say they are in good health, either. It really is a shame that so many young guys (even on RJ), who never knew the AIDS crisis of earlier years, are so confident that they don't have to worry about contracting HIV, just because there are these wonderful drugs now (which often have a very complicated regimen, and don't guarantee good health). Some of them are bound to have very unpleasant surprises.

i don't think josh and erik ever did any vids together but that would have been hot,

josh was a really sexually charged performer no pun intended,.

I had heard he was doing bb, but he also looked like a heavy muscle supplement user too, reported that he died of a heart attack, so who knows what took him. i thought he had the perfect bod in his earlier vids where he was so ripped and slim. self body image is a wicked thing,

he had a USN tattoo, salute him for serving his country if he did.

    RIP

David, We expect the homophobic and religious extremists to spread false information about us. So we should always double check "surveys", through the lense of "who's agenda" or what credible source, and not be the purveyors of misinformation. SF79, Thnx for correcting the record.

always a very sexy guy, was at his peak hotness b4 he got all roided out and went crazy with the body building, but that super pale skin and slight ginger tinge to him made him incredibly sexy always.

I get the feeling stol simply misworded his phrase because that's not the vibe his sentence is excuding. No need to be so aggressive.

You ask a complicated question here brother. It's not just porn (they are actually the brave, courageous people dealing with their past issues from childhood, I applaud them actually) but you should ask why are people promiscuous usually endangering their health and they are not even in porn or getting paid to share their sexuality with others in dangerous ways. That's the more interesting question to me, not a question about why someone goes in to porn.
