Do u only see what u want to see or are u open to anything or anyone? Do u try to insulate or limit ur interaction & experiences with all types of people or are u a fluid free spirit who goes with the flow & treats everyone fair & on equal footing until they prove themselves unworthy to be treated as u would want to be treated?........

I do sometimes wish RL had an ignore button.

I try to be open to everyone until they show who they are & I don't like the person they show themselves to be.

Everyone sees and hears things they want to see and hear to some degree.

It's like the lines of one of my poems: "I am everything I see and not see......."

If that were remotely true, there would be no need for an ignore button, and there would be no arguments of any kind, ever.

This. Plus, ugliness allows for a greater appreciation of beauty.... Sometimes, anyway, lol.

Even when people talk to u u only pick up what u want to hear or when ur in a crowd, u only pick out ones that stand out. How many pass by someone on the street & make eye contact, nod & greet & smile just to be pleasant & cordial? And how many times do u not even see or are aware of who's around u?

But it is true. How many times has someone posted something innocent and the other person saw something different and a shit fest ensued?

...umm...because they're NOT seeing what they want to see, and so get angry
(that, and misunderstanding the post in question, which isn't 'seeing what you want to see' either) icon_wink.gif

lol, good one; they're not seeing what they want to see, they're not seeing what they should see, so it's no wonder things get downright explosive at times.

I'll concede this however; some people do in fact see what they want to see sometimes, if they've already decided someone is a jerk. No matter what the person posts, even if it's just hello, he's slapped for being a jerk. icon_wink.gif

Rather than this seeing or hearing thing, which I think is rife with errors, I think that people tend to believe what they want to believe. icon_wink.gif

It's the way of the world, people will believe want they want to believe & they'll stick to their guns no matter what anyone says or tries to persuade them otherwise.......

That's not true, either. Some will, but many won't. What you just said is an example of seeing, hearing, and believing only what you, spgem , want to see, hear and believe.

Don't we all see only what we want to see? I think it is human.
Like for example when we ignore the homeless in the street or people suffering around us.
