Many years ago, I asked my Native New Orleanian, uptown Godmother why she didn't do more traveling. At the time, she had the physical & mental mobility, as well as the income, to do so.

She looked at me over the rim of her coffee cup and somewhat haughtily replied: "Mahhhh child, WHYYYYYY sould I travel to some foreign city, be forced to drink weak coffee, eat bland food, pretend to admire dull, square shaped houses and be told when to leave a bar or restaurant?"

"Look Around, mahhh child, WE ARE ALREADY HEEAAHHHHHHH!"

Never met her but I think I would have liked her. I love my city and couldn't live anywhere else in the continental US.

I ocassionally complain about it, threaten to leave....but I know that deep down, "in my heaurt of heaurts" that i am never moving away.

I also could never live anywhere else but New Orleans, LA, USA.
