    that graph is still a bit misleading in that you'd expect about only one-percent of papers per country to be in the top one percent of papers... which in the us' case is 30,000+ papers

    Interesting that Switzerland has the highest in the top one percent. The US abounds in submitted paper but is only slightly above average in the top one percent.

    Are the citations that are counted, strictly those in peer reviewed journals, etc?

    This graph is visually interesting but seems to lack correlational data that would make it more relevant.
