It took 3 days driving 1500 miles (2400 km) from south Florida (we started late Wed), with some rain and lots of road construction delays, but here in good shape. Unfortunately the snow they had has melted, we might get a light dusting again on Christmas Day. Damn global warming! What's a New England Christmas without snow?

Have Internet here at the private home where we're staying, so I can get my RJ, e-mail and online news fixes with no trouble. I'll send pics if I can, haven't done that before from an iPad. Got some adapter thingies for my camera's SD card, will see if they work with the iOS version of iPhoto.

Wish there were some RJ members around here, but few in NH and none close to us in Keene. Please e-mail me if you're anywhere near us for a little gathering.

No, we didn't think the world would end. I love parody and being facetious. And I also love Christmas in New Hampshire, my first outside Florida in 6 years.

Well you posted about it earlier but now changing tune since your theory was proven wrong.

Please post the quote, you are mistaken, perhaps confusing me with another member. The only thing I wrote was a joke, not changing any tune.

We're having light snow right now! YAY! But likely no real accumulation until Christmas Day.

Thanks! Would you believe that's the first movie I remember ever seeing in a theater? In NYC's Radio City Music Hall in 1954 for the Christmas Show, likely a factor in my lifelong love of the Art Deco style.

LOL... yeah, I can believe it.... My Nonna used to make me watch all these old movies with her... It's how she learned English when we moved her to the States... She could sing in "almost" perfect english!! but, never could speak it in without her italian accent... lol... but, Yeah, I grew up watching all of these shows/movies... Love 'em.... icon_lol.gif

Enjoy Bob - I always liked my NH trips. Missed the Old Man by a Year - gone icon_sad.gif - but his legacy lives on in state road signs and on the NH license plates.

I visited NH a lot in the 1950s & early '60s when my family had a Vermont summer home, but not since, until this couple began inviting us to their vacation home. It's all very nostalgic for me, revisiting places for the first time in 50 years.

And in some ways more beautiful than before. Old things had less value back then than today, and old equaled run-down & neglected. Now the restored is quaint & valuable. We drove through a town yesterday that was like stepping back in time (Walpole, where Ken Burns has a home), the whole place almost like a Williamsburg restored village.

Taking a break now from decorating our hosts' tree & house. (We all arrived together, so nothing had been done prior) Last night was a party, another tonight, and in fact almost every night while we're here, with their family & friends. There's a mostly gay party here tomorrow on Christmas Eve (the locals all know we're gay and are very accepting, even approving).

It took me 60 years to get here. You can never look back, only forward, and so to other guys here we wish as happy a holiday as we're having, if not this year then in the future. I never knew the happiness I'd have one day until I had it.

You have my condolences if you spent the 3 days of traveling on I-95. Whenever I do that drive I take the western route and the drive through the mountains are much better than the flat boring regions of GA and the Carolina's.

Anyway, Enjoy NH. Most of my time in New England is spent in Maine, but that whole corner of the country has great scenery anytime of the year.

    Have a nice Holiday.
