Not a good idea to publicly post when you are leaving town ... anyone knowing you who is not honest and found you on this site and anonymously monitoring your updates, might take it as an advantage to rip you off ... maybe you don't need to worry ... but just sayin'

Focus on how much better off you are now in your life than you were back then and know you aren't that kid anymore. You are in control of how much power you let it exert over you.

Mothers and fathers were made to aggravate your life, otherwise they wouldn't be doing their jobs. How else are you going to appreciate the rest of it.

    Wool on gong

The name Wollongong originated from the Aboriginal word woolyungah meaning five islands, or "many snakes" , or "sea of the south" depending on interpretation.

Affectionately called 'the gong' by many locals.

Is Wollongong all that bad or is the OP being his usual belligerant, bitter self.

Wollongong isn't bad but it's not where I want to be. I grew up here and there are few opportunities here.

Work wise it's a lot of blue collar jobs which in them selves are not bad however I didn't want to work in those fields. Plus in this economy many are drying up.

White collar jobs are usually low paying and have little room for progression.

Sure there are other jobs, jobs that are pretty good, lots of room for progression and so on. But there aren't tons.

Personally I don't like Wollongong, as I said I grew up here and experience has tainted here pretty badly. My family have managed to put a lot of it behind them and remained here or maybe they don't hold the same memories but I had a pretty miserable up bringing and I got out of here and away from it all a long time ago.

Even my older brother and two sisters know I don't wanna be here even over Christmas but I got two amazingly little brothers who don't know about my past and I'm not subjecting them to my bullshit...

So here I am in Wollongong pretending its good and enjoying my time seeing family

Bonus, I got lte on my ipad mini how sweets that haha

Robert Mapplethorpe had this to say about his hometown: "It's a good place to be from, because it's a good place to leave."

I kinda live in a bit of shit hole but i kinda missed it. I went to a really classy, nice, intelligent place but i really missed the kind of people that would tell me about the time that they pissed on a coach (it was a girl) and how they accidentally pissed in front of a restaurant. It felt like home.
