Over the last few months, SF, NYC, DC, Phoenix, Vancouver and others have pulled off successful meet-ups.

Given that we have 1,396 homos within 50 miles of Columbus, would a meet-up be possible around here? If so, what would be an appropriate venue for maybe a Thursday night or Sunday late afternoon/early evening?

Since activity is pretty much concentrated in the Short North, it should be relatively easy to pick a spot

Only 1,396 homos within 50 miles of Columbus and no one is interested?

Just go for a walk down Short North. It's like gay pride parade in Cincinnati.

I thought since some other metros have pulled off a meetup with some success that I would give it a try again.

My observation is that a specific suggestion for a meet up works better than just a general "hey, wanna meet up?"

If not one specific suggestion, then a short list and see which one gains traction. Include suggestions for just getting together for a drink/dinner and some activity meet ups, like: hiking, bowling, or whatever facilities you have in Columbus

    Just my humble suggestion.

Oh, and don't take Vancouver as a model. The invasion of Normandy was planned in less time. icon_wink.gif

Agree, that's why I'm hesitant to even bring it up again. Last time I didn't get a single response.

I have tried this in the past with "meet up at the Zoo", "Meet up at UNION", "Meet up at the conservatory", Meet up at a Metropark".....and had 3 people say they wanted to do it and then didn't show.....
Sad to say, Columbus gays are just really bad at commitment and follow through or just too flaky to believe.......so I stopped trying. Sorry it has not changed yet.....Hell I even ask people if they want to meet up for the ARNOLD....thinking health, fitness, hot guys,..... nothing......icon_rolleyes.gif

Agree. And I thought West Hollywood was full of a bunch of flakes ... nothing compared to C-Bus.

However, that's one of the places I was thinking of is the right side or south room of Union.

    Thanks ^^^^

You know, I was out back in the Kismet and Cat's Meow days (1970) and it was a pretty good time in Columbus with large bars and easy to meet friendly people. I'm still very outgoing and very friendly and meet people easily except in homo bars.

Columbus has become very cliquish and bitchy, and these folks have zero room to be bitchy. I have very well developed shoulders and triceps and the only time I've had any type of encounter was last summer in Union where when I was wearing a tank and someone who couldn't see the rest of me started feeling up my upper arms and shoulder. I turned around and the 20 something twink said: ewwww, you're old .... goodbye. Just amazing! I go out once in a long long while, but don't even try to talk to anyone. I'm certainly receptive IF someone wants to talk to me, but fat chance since I'm about double the age limit and not a part of any gay cliche.

I can't believe that saying this, but LA was far better even with its reputation for attitude.

None of this applies to the straight world around here as I find them extremely friendly regardless of age.

If you have the time, come out to DC, and we'll have meet-up to welcome you.

Thanks. I very rarely get to DC and I don't have any deals pending in the NE. Seems most of what I do is Florida or Texas right now.

Once nature takes its course with my ill parents, I'm going back out to LA as crazy as that sounds.
