I would love to but I don't know an easy way to get from Chicago to Detroit. I don't have a car.

One would think that would be a popular Amtrak route. I'm coming up Friday night and I'll end up at Mr Bs in Royal Oak that evening and at the door at Cobo as soon as they open on Saturday AM.

It gets insanely crowded by noon so that will still give me three hours to see most of what I want to see such as the C7 and hopefully the Chevy SS.

Amtrak is an option granted it has gotten expensive to travel that way. I have done Chicago to East Lansing numerous times. It is kinda fun. You go through some cool parts of Chicago, get to see Union Station and get to see parts of Lake Michigan and the ruins known as Gary, Indiana haha.

Parking can be a bitch around Cobo for this. There is an underground garage with the entrance/exit right in the middle of Jefferson halfway between Ren Center and Cobo that always seems to have parking if you get there early on Saturday.

Yep, I'll be going as per the usual yearly trip( not like I live far away ha). It will be interesting to see how the renovation is handled with respect to being about halfway done and still having the show going on. icon_eek.gif

Yeah, good question. It will be nice next year when its complete, hopefully, in time for the show. And hopefully they add a shitload of parking.

If the weather is bad, I'll just take a front wheel drive rental so I'll get there somehow.

I did the high end show during the CES for many of the years I was in LA, but now to show my support for the American big three, off to Detroit on the 18th and 19th.

I'd love to attend a Detroit show. Made it to NY for its show in April. Was like a dream to have all that automotive product knowledge available to interview.
    [sigh]

The Auto Show in DC is as worthless as touring new cars parked at a mall.

The only big indoor shows I've done routinely is LA and Detroit auto shows, CES and SEMA. Outside of that is .... outside for everything else, such as POCI if its within 500 miles or so, Ames Tri Power Nationals and Dream Cruise. It's 'family reunion' time with all of my car buddies. They're all old, even older than me, and dropping like flies.

Then you'd love the Industry Preview days. The tickets cost more, and are to see the show before everyone else. It's also typically when the press conferences are as well. I was invited to one event a few years ago, and I'd have to say it was one of the best days in my auto show life icon_smile.gif

i desperately want to go (always have wanted to go) but like so much right now, its just not in the budget.

That being said, i got to watch Aston Martin unveil the new Vanquish at work last year so all is not lost...

Megabus or the train. Both are pretty inexpensive.

You need credentials on press and industry days. The charity fund raiser, before the show opens to public is expensive, but anyone who can buy the ticket can get in. Opening day to the public, Saturday the 19th, just go as soon as the doors open and you have about three hours before it gets horrible. Park in the garage under Jefferson that's about halfway to Ren Center and you're set.

I watched the new Vette being revealed on YouTube, and I was shocked by how ugly it is.

Hmm I think it is one of the best looking cars coming to market this year. I can't post any pics here since the site formatting cuts off half the image icon_confused.gif
