I think I have a good singing voice. And I love singing.
Do you have any advice where I should practice?

Find a reputable voice teacher in your area. Get recommendations from local music schools (there are lots of bad voice teachers out there).

Do not attempt it on your own. Unlike other instruments, the voice can be easily damaged if you're not trained properly and it's an extremely physical process.

I've been studying voice for 2.5 years now, and it's a very difficult, frustrating process.

Thanks for the recommendations. How much did your voice improve over those two years?

Troof. Also, even if you're not doing anything unhealthy, you might be solidifying bad habits, which are very hard to relearn to sing without.

You should also decide if you want to sing better for yourself or for audiences.

vocal lessons but if too expensive, join a choir like i did. youll get better over time =D

and also we always sound better in our heads than what we actually do, so get feedback and our natural tone may be better in some areas than others

Because im a bass or baritone. singing a Jack Johnson song like "all at once" is more suited for my voice than Will Young "grace"

Bass can sing tenor just an octave lower. Baritone can be tricky to place in your tessitura if you're not also baritone.

True. I never really sing in front of people. It will be good for me to get feedback from a professional. What are typically the rates for a vocal coach?

Trollileo saidWherever the hell you want? Sing in the car, in the shower, in your bedroom. The cool thing about being a vocalist is that you're not restricted to what you have with you. Sing karaoke, too. You get a feel of where you stand as a performer.

Basically I sing in the car most of the time and early mornings when I could really really hit the Bass note....other then that what makes me sing better (i think) is that after a real good workout or swimming. I could sing and control otherwise I'm a train wreak singer icon_razz.gif

youre in San Diego. Check out The Westminster Barbershop Chorus. They are a pretty amazing group of guys that all sing really well. They win every competition they enter. I was in that group in 2011 till I moved away from the area.

Everyone should sing, whether they are practiced or not. It's a joy that's not exclusive. And every legendary singer started out shitty. E'rey last one.

In middle school, our music teacher told me that I sing like a watering can. And I had to sit out any singing. And write some essay instead on some piece of mosic for the grade. That was embarassing and painful.

I agree with this so hard.

Really? Most renowned musicians start out with SOME inherent talent when they`re 2-5 YO.... or have I just heard wrong all this time icon_lol.gif

You know I sing better after a workout too, or when I'm hungry. It's like my vocal cords relax, I can belt out anything I want...well almost.

One of my favorite song to sing when I test my bass notes is my all by Mariah Carey. Try that one, it feels soo good when you hit that low note.

I hope this is not offensive to anyone ...they rehearse in a Church, are they gay friendly?
They probably won't know I'm gay unless I tell them but its good to know who you're dealing with.
