What a pathetic attempt to use human suffering to prove a fallacy. Shame.

For last winter but probably applies to this year as well:

Then there's the slowing of the Gulf Stream (still not proven but certainly possible to be worse in the future):

you're such an idiot it's revolting. climate change causes weather extremes. that means cold winters also become even colder (especially in europe). the whole point in renaming global warming to climate change was because idiots like you only assumed the heating of the earth caused massive heating.

Yup. That's about the size of it.

Seriously, you could watch "The Day After Tomorrow" and be better informed about climate change than Riddler is...

And yet the joke is on the idiots who don't actually consider the policy implications - from the article as it's clear that you two morons didn't bother to read it:

In the past few years we’ve seen climate change blamed for hot weather, for floods and for droughts. It’s been blamed for both the presence and the absence of storms. It’s been blamed for excessive snow as well as for the absence of snow. We don’t blame the smart greens for these recurring epidemics of media foolishness, but we wish they did more to focus the public discussion on practicalities and realities.

Here's the basic problem - climate change is being blamed for *everything* - one way or another which makes it far less credible to make any claims on climate change. There were even idiots shortly after the Tsunami who claimed that it was a cause of climate change. Instead of the persistent hysteronics, maybe it's time to reflexively block any progress in things like fracking which is in large part responsible for bringing US CO2 emissions back to 1992 levels. The irony is that the US has made the greatest progress towards Kyoto despite not being a signatory - but then of course, it's the supposed red necks in the US and those who even bother to question some of the contradictory conclusions over the years who are the idiots and "stupid".

Hope the Eastern European prostitutes are keeping warm. Not sure anyone enjoys plowing a cold snatch, but then again, friction can be a good thing.

you're a selective reading idiot. the paragraph right before it clearly states the argument that when winters get extremely cold it's not about climate change. you seriously suffer from a delusional sense of analytical framework. and you're actually a proponent of fracking? you like to have an opinion on everything you have no background in. you think you've done your research because you read articles from people who say what you want to hear. you sir don't get a vote about whether climate change is real because you have no expertise to evaluate it.

Yep, both a proponent and investor. Do you not understand context or does that require a level of sophistication a bit too high for you to understand? You don't have newspapers trotting out climate change arguments during a snow storm but you do have them doing so during a heat wave. The irony of your commentary is that either you have a background on everything or you're pretty much the kind of person you consider to be an idiot. icon_wink.gif

no, the irony is that no newspaper should be trotting out any discussion of whether this is climate change related because analysis would have to be done to prove it. second, where are these claims by reports in legitimate publications that aren't editorials that say all these heatwaves are being caused by climate change and don't have scientific evidence to back it up? that entire article is a straw man argument. where are these articles of respected accounts of journalism not in the editorial context saying heatwaves are being caused global warming without backing up their stories with evidence?

which is the vast majority of climate scientists, you know, the people who actually understand the science as opposed to the neanderthal that is you who doesn't have any working concept of it, say man-made climate change is occurring?

Why does it have to degenerate into name calling? Did anybody even read the known science behind the Arctic Oscillation and its possible relationship to loss of Arctic sea ice?

The problem with scientifically sound people is that they often have no clue about rhetoric, opinion manipulation etc...
If the purpose was an open debate about climate change, it would be easy.
But the purpose of some is to create doubts about the credibility of science finding.
So any attempts to backup opinion on climate change using science actually helps them, as it give them ammunition to discredit climatology.

step one : make some twisted claim about evidences contradicting global warming.

Step two : someone refute your claims, and refer to scientific finding.

Step tree : Demonstrate that the refutation is not 100% certain. It's easy to do on any scientific subject using statistics for demonstration.

Step four : Bring some conspiracy theory about the motive of scientist working on climate change. It's again easy, imagination is the limit.

Step 5: You are done. You made the whole thread look like there is balanced opposition between pro and cons, that each side may be with hidden agenda, each side rely on weakly conclusive science.

Result : Using the lack of scientific expertise of most readers on the subject, you made it appear as if it was a matter of personal opinion, and that the position of 'small minority resisting brainwash by smart arrogant scientist and politicians' is more cool than trusting the scientific system.

So, arguing on fact has little interest here, unless you want to help them create more confusion.
