Sometimes I really wish we didn't have a DVR.

My boyfriend cannot sit through a show anymore. He's up every 5 minutes and just says "pause it". icon_mad.gif

Next Monday I have to decide which show NOT to record on my DVR. At 8pm I record Heroes, Sarah Connor Chronicles, and Gossip Girl. I have to figure out which is easiest to watch online, I guess, because I don't think Gossip Girl still repeat on Sundays. And I'm NOT going to miss Milo in case he's shirtless on Heroes.

And it's also gym night. Guess I have to watch them when I get home or on Tuesday night.

LOL I'd make him rewind it himself when he sits back down. Fixes it pretty quick icon_biggrin.gif

I gave up my DVR about a month ago when I dropped cable TV. When I dropped this service, I was surprised at how much missed my DVR. It is soo convenient and way more functional than a traditional vcr/dvd recorder.

    The pause feature was awesome!

I know the feeling. I made visits home after not having cable tv for 5 years. Now that I moved back, everything has been updated. I'm starting to waste the time I spend online watching tv! It's ridiculous!! icon_razz.gif

Easy solution tip #85: Break the pause button.

You could just let the movie keep running and when he gets back, say something snarky like, "oh, I must have hit the pause button on my brain by mistake, poopsiewhoopsie" followed by kissy noises in the air. And when he asks in irritated tones what did he miss, reply "shhhhh, I cant hear the movie." ..... icon_lol.gif

Tim, I cannot overstate the most important part about this thread. You began your post with, "My boyfriend..."

Ah, how we miss the big stuff for the little stuff. I just kissed my husband on the forehead. Sigh.

I'm one of the rare homos that still has rabbit ears for TV transmission. In February I lose my TV reception for the virtues of HD. I don't care. let it go...

I haven't watched anything other then movies or my video games on my TV set for the last 8 months, and even when I was still at home with cable I rarely watched anything.

If I really want to see a show, there are other means of obtaining episodes.

OMG I could never live without my DVR. In fact we have 2 of them. Allthough we rarely pause live tv....we forget that we can sometimes....we really like it for recording shows and being able to fast forward through commercials. Saves so much time. We never watch a show when it airs....if you are a techy, there is a SATA2 port on the time warner DVR so you can add your own externial hard drive and get more recording space!

I don't really watch TV anymore per Se. I wait for it to come out on DVD then buy it, and I can too pause.

    for a drink,
    then to pee,
to let one of the dogs out,
or one of the cats in,
    or use the computer...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................icon_biggrin.gif

it'll be 16 years in December, but I still call him my boyfriend, and occasionally the ball & chain.
