It seems most of my friends are into the modern pop/rap music out there today, i mean i listen to it when im around them and can get into the music. But Indie music is where im at all the time. From awesome artist such as
    Ben Howard
    Melanie Martinez
    Ed Sheeran
    Imagine the Dragon
    Ben Hooper
    The Format
    Of monster and men
    and so on

Beirut every single day, the feeling of nostalgia from this band. Beautiful music, great instrumentals and the voice of the lead has this aching homesickness in his voice that gets you longing for more.

I like indie music, but mostly the poppier, well crafted, but still quirky style--not the unlistenable, tuneless BS that so many indie folks get into. Bands like Spoon, Divine Fits, Wolf Parade, Arcade Fire, Decemberists, New Pornographers, Pavement, Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, and the Dismemberment Plan are some of my favorites.

I'm fortunate to live in 'Music City' and we have a great truly independent radio station here. Locally owned and locally programmed. They play some of the best indie music you'll hear.

    Fergus and Geronimo
    City and Color
    Family of the Year
    Grizzly Bear
    Ghostland Observatory
    Fun
    The Decemberists

The Shins, Wolf Parade, Grizzly Bear, Phoenix, Santigold (is she even Indie? do I even care?), Cat Power, Blonde Readhead.

Or we can go old school. Sonic Youth, Mudhoney, Pixies....

    I love these name-dropping threads.
