An important foreign relations lesson according to me.

I have decided that since Russia seems to be misbehaving and declaring war on the Georgians that we all could use a lesson in Russian Foreign policy. Here is the Sara Palin version of the Russian Foreign Policy School.

That’s right the link above is the view from Little Diomede Island, AK to Big Diomede Island of Russia. One of only three place in Alaska that you can see Russia.

I pulled some statistics and facts about Alaska and Russia from Slate online magazine and mileage from Geobytes.com

Here are some quick thoughts for you:

1.The other two spots in Alaska where you can see Russia is
From St. Lawrence Island and the Tin City Air Force facility at Cape Prince of Wales.”

    2. There are no permanent residences that actually live on Big Diomede.

    3. Sara and other Alaskans can, however, see into the future from Little Diomede since Big Diomede (or Ratmanov Island, as it's known to the Russians) is on the other side of the International Date Line.”

    4. You cannot see either the Kremlin or the Vladivostok Pacific Fleet Headquarters from Alaska.

    5. A quick search of Google reveals that for Sara or any of us to see the Kremlin from Juneau capital of Alaska would need to be able to see 4553 miles away.

    6. Wilmington, Delaware home of Joe Biden is 4771 miles from the Kremlin.

    7. Since we are playing Joe is 6102 miles from Baghdad and Sara is 6104. Making Joe 2 miles smarter on Iraq. Obama is 6423 miles and McCain well from the house that I know of is a whopping 7580 miles away.

What does all of this prove it proves I can’t sleep. Oh and it proves that saying you have foreign relations experience because you can see an uninhabited shore line of another country is crazy…personally she should have said she knows all about Canada at least from Alaska there is 1538 miles of shared border.

She might have, but there's that language barrier. She doesn't speak Canadian and really has knickers in a twist wondering why it's not called "Canadia".

Anyway, good, thoughtful, well researched post you made. I give you a gold star.

You ought to forward that to the Biden campaign, for when he debates her. I'd love for Joe to say he's x-number of miles smarter than Palin because of their relative distances to various world capitols.
