Sarah Palin has been criticised by feminist commentators for not persuading her 17 year old pregnant daughter to have an abortion.

The family is actively christian and consider such a course to be wrong. The daughter has stable parents on whom to rely and who are also wealthy enough to support her if things get tough.

The irony is that these same feminists would defend to the hilt the "RIGHTS" of every poverty-stricken teenage mum, from a broken home to expect the state to supply her with housing and benefits. Any criticisms of such conduct is jumped upon as "scapegoating single parents."

It would appear that for these so-called feminists, it is motive that counts. If you treat your child as a meal ticket, that is good, but if you actually respect it's life too much to take , that is bad. if you are a drop-out addict and a mother, you should be helped, but if you are a Christain and practice what you preach, you should be condemned.

It makes you yearn for the days when a feminist was someone whom believed in equal rights for men and women, rather than in unequal rights for women according to creed. icon_biggrin.gif

Just like the NAACP is in effect the NAALCP (L=liberal), feminists only support women that are liberal, and the gay movement only has a place at the table for liberal homosexuals. You can add Unions to this list. If you subscribe to the idea of the political spectrum as a circle with the extreme right and the extreme left eventually meeting at a point opposite moderation, then you can also add the extremists of organized religious to the group.

I think it goes to the core philosophy. Group mentality. It seems that if you think that aligning with a group is the best way to get what you want, you are more likely to see the government as an ally in your quest. And then see government as a way to force others to join your cause.

If however you appreciate individual freedom, you tend to believe in the power of the individual and see that the only way to truly effect lasting change is on an individual basis. The individual is the antithesis of group, and therefore the enemy of many that believe in the power of the group. Look out if you step out of line. You will be labeled as wacko, fanatic, nuts, stupid, moronic, etc., by the members of these groups so that they can delude themselves that their beliefs are superior.

I won't comment on whether it was right or wrong of Sarah Palin's daughter to get married at 17 and have a kid. As long as she has a choice and is not forced to do something against her will. The whole point of the pro-choice movement is just that, choice.

Most feminists would likely have problems with Sarah Palin if she put undue pressure on her daughter to have the child and keep it. I don't think many would argue she must pressure her daughter to have an abortion.

Holy shit, your very first sentence is a total lie! Please list one commentator that has said Bristol should have had an abortion! If there's been any criticism, it's in the hypocrisy of Republicans presuming to teach family values to a nation when they can't convey those same values to their family.

You can call it whatever you want.

But the media down here, has been full of how the feminist hate her, and I've read in in the British papers too. But the feminizes are now a minority, a dying breed, and thats what they wanted women to stop doing, breeding. But they just have not been able to stop em from having sex.

Now this is going into the failures of feminisem. Another thread. Oh I think I did that before.icon_biggrin.gif

So then you don't have any sources where feminists are saying Palin should have convinced her daughter to have an abortion. Just a bunch of Australian radio and TV feminists who believe no one should have sex.

I will just assume a lack of comprehension made you think this.
