The website is still overtly condescending and belittling, but the fact that the Church now has an official website dedicated to confronting the "same sex attraction" issue is a huge change from simply ignoring it. I wonder if this will change the attitudes of the rank-and-file members to be more tolerant and accepting.

Does it have anything to do with this?

    They never ignored it.
For example, my friend (who's over 60 years old) was given a choice by the Mormon church, to either give up being gay or give up being a member of the church.

BTW, the number of suicides among Mormons is huge.

Until they recognize us as a full-fledged orientation and not merely as an attraction, acting accordingly including re-writing their holy scriptures or at least redacting leviticus, until they acknowledge that our orientation is nothing to be forgiven for because there is nothing wrong with it, they can continue to go fuck themselves.

Regardless of their intent, about which I don't place beyond suspect, all they are doing, if they are doing at all, is maybe retreating from being entirely oppressive but transmuting their own evil inclinations into being merely abusive. I'm not sure how much they've risen by that under God's morals.

Instead of excommunicating a person from church just for being gay, which is oppressive, they now want to be so-called inclusive, but it's really nothing more than some half-wit measure such that a person who is gay can continue loving a church which considers them living their sexual orientation to be a sin, which is the disgustingly narcisistic church being abusive.

Granted, this could bring some apparent relief to families who decide to remain living within that structure but carpeting the walls doesn't really soften the blows in a dungeon. It just muffles the screams.

I didn't mean they ignored it, they just up to this point have labeled it a sin and sent you packing if you weren't willing to pretend it away. They still say it's a sin, but now they are acknowledging it may be inborn and may not be possible to cure away. I know it sounds like a subtle difference to non-Mormons, but that they finally accept that some openly gay (but celebate) members can be accepted in good standing is a big change. They'll never accept gay marriage, its too anti their very core doctrine of eternal marriage and procreation. But growing up gay and mormon was PURE emotional torture, and maybe steps like this can alleviate some of that.

So instead of setting a soul free even into the so-called damnation of death which might have entailed some emotional torment but would allow that person to find his own path to the light of day, instead they now seek to bind that soul to their church so that their torture continues throughout life.

Here, allow me to twist this tourniquet just above your knee to alleviate the pain in your foot. Don't mind that thump, it's just the sound of your leg falling off. Such alleviation is an illusion for the bondage of the unenlightened.

You don't think it's a baby step in the right direction? You gotta start somewhere.....

    I don't know. I've heard that first step's a doozy.

But you bring up a good point and I suppose I could argue either side of that fairly successfully. Obviously how you say is how it will play and near history will record that as being the only way it could have been but I suspect further flung history will look back with a tear in its eye.

Once the church publicly acknowledges that it realizes that sacrificing virgins won't stop the volcano from erupting do you not simply stop throwing in humans screaming to their death or do you just ease off a bit? We're only going to kill four virgins this year instead of our usual 12. That way the congregation has time to get used to the idea.

These religions have known they are wrong for 1000s of years but only now are we calling them out on it. We are shining the light of truth on them and they are scurrying like cockroaches. Sure you can allow them places to hide until their eyes adjust. But there's no reason to not call that what it is. Greed & Cowardice.

What do they fear more: truth or losing congregation receipts.

And why are they doing it? Pride. They can't admit that they were wrong because then they'd have to make amends.

Behold their holy trinity: Pride Greed & Cowardice. And they worry about us sucking dick. God bless them.
