Hi guys, planning a trip to NYC-Chicago and Miami in Feb 2013.
Already visit NYC a few years ago.
I will spend 3-4 days in Chicago, in Miami for about the same amount of time.
    7-10 days in NYC.
Will do some touristic stuff, but not to much. Will be more chilling around, giving some resume, visiting museums, galleries, cafes, bars,...

If any of you have any tips, or maybe want to meet, let me know! icon_biggrin.gif

Which area is the most welcoming in Miami? Chill around.
Heard that fort Lauderdale is a huge gay city... Not really into gay scene, tho.

Ft. Lauderdale is not a huge gay city. It is a fairly large, well-kept suburban city north of Miami. There is a fairly large gay scene for a city it's size. Not knocking it, but it's a quieter more family friendly version of Miami.

If you want to experience Miami, then go to Miami. South Beach will be your best bet.

If you don't want the craziness or crowds of South Beach, any hotel in Mid-Beach and North Beach will work too...

More specific calendar dates from you might help. We're not party guys, though, and live about 35 miles north of Miami (assuming you don't really mean Miami Beach on the ocean). And we're taking a short Caribbean cruise in February, so we may not be here at all for your dates.

Our cruise is Feb 7-11 from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, so that may not work, we'll be packing our luggage just as you're arriving. If you can get up to the Wilton Manors/Fort Lauderdale gay clubs on the 6th (Wed/Mercredi), we can have a bon voyage party. LOL!

Millenium Park is worth taking a look at and going ice skating if that is your thing. The museums are entertaining as well if you have the time, some days of the week they are "free" for a donation.

Walk the Magnificent Mile and see all the stores there.

Try a Chicago style hot dog if you haven't had one before. I would prefer trying a place called The Weiner Circle. Search the place on youtube so you can brace yourself as to what to expect, its a fun place.

Be sure to try out the different restaurants, there are way too many to choose from in a few days. Be sure to get up for breakfast somewhere, I prefer Anne Sathers. There are a few locations around the city.

There are a lot of interesting bars, restaurants, and shops in Wriglyville that are worth taking a look at too.

You can't really go wrong anywhere in Chicago if you enjoy people watching and window shopping. Just be sure to know the places you don't want to be at unless you want to get mugged and you will be fine.

Thanks for the advices. Will def check South beach!

I love South Beach (a section of Miami Beach) for its architecture in the Arts Décoratifs (Art Déco) style. Since this art movement began in France it might interest you to see its expression in 1930s America.

The most gay clubs & bars are now in Wilton Manors, a small town on the north edge of Fort Lauderdale. But South Beach has a few gay places, not as many as in the past. Fort Lauderdale has the most gay guest houses, around 25 at present, most near the beach.
