    Hey guys,

Just moved to West Hollywood from SF. Any recommendations on gyms in the area? My new place is at N. Crescent Heights and Santa Monica. So I guess closest gyms are Equinox and Crunch, from what I've been able to determine.

I used to work out at Golds in SF but the Golds in West Hollywood seems a bit too far. Or is it worth the drive?

    Hey there,

If you are looking for a fun gym, with great attitude (I was surprised!) then you may want to check out the 24 Hour Fitness on Santa Monica Blvd.

Yes its older, yes some of the machines don't always work, and its definitely not the cleaner, newer gyms you see around, yet I love it because of the people.

I see a lot of the same people all week, I can say hi to some, give a nod others and most importantly I feel VERY comfortable working out there. I didn't think I would thinking it would be a stereotypical meat market place and especially hot looking guys (all of this is true) but it's my favorite gym I've worked out in due to the comfortability factor.

The gym is across the street from the Body Factory, the great healthy smoothie place which I crave now everyday.

My advice, go get week passes to a few gyms sand see which one works the best for you.

PS, I'm from SF too (been living here now for about 6 years (school, job, bf etc...).

I worked out pretty often at all three mentioned here during my bicoastal years -- Equinox, Crunch and 24 Hour. I thought Equinox was the nicest of the three, although I'd agree that 24 Hour is the friendliest. Crunch was the strangest.

I've liked both 24 HR Fitness on both Sunset and Santa Monica. I go more the the one on Sunset as it has more equipment, but they both have very nice people!
