I saw it featured in INSANITY and apparently it originated as an American Football exercise. I'll try to describe it as best as possible:

You run to the side a few steps then bring up your knee at an angle, then repeat the other way.

Does anyone know the name of this?

Seems like good cardio. Is there any anabolic effect?

It does look like good cardio but I can't imagine any anabolic benefit from it unless you're a beginner to exercising. I can't say for sure though since I've never done them.

If the heisman is indeed the exercise you're on about, the they feature in P90X as well as Insanity.

As for anaerobic benefit, that would depend on how fit you are, wouldn't it? The more fit you are, the less anaerobic benefit you'd expect from it. I may be wrong, and willing to be proven wrong though.

    LOL. Laughable.

It's running in place laterally. Why would you do this? What is the point? Unless your sport does this, it's retarded. Sure you'll get a workout if you do enough of it. You can get better gains doing other things that actually work specific energy systems in the body...Something GWriter obviously is oblivious to.

I've done both insanity and P90x and when they tell me to do the 1.2.3 heisman, I take it more as of a resting exercise. if you go deep enough it hits your obliques pretty good.

But I agree with Bluey. It's kind of a dumb exercise. Specifically in the gym. Switch it up by doing it outside, and cover some distance. I think you'll get a better workout.
