I think some people have got to be playing dumb when they make stuff like this. Of course Asians are gonna get pissed. This reminds me of the dish scrubber made in the likeness of black people with big Afros. I mean seriously I think some companies enjoy the controversy.

Maybe they assumed they could get a pass on the Asian community.

It is not politically correct. ... Racism is the act of hatred toward another race .. the app has nothing to do with hate.

I'm wondering if "Make Me Asian" has anything to do with the "Rice Containing Human Genes Being Grown in Kansas!" thread???

    We are what we eat.
Are the human genes in the rice "Asian" genes?
Could this be a conspiracy to cause all humans to be Asian through biology and technology?

If it meant I could be good at science, math and do karate I say it's worth the risk.

I don't really feel pissed off about it. We do have to make fun of ourselves once in a while after all.

Now if I made an app called "Make Me American", and if I allowed the following face manipulations:

    - Face enlarger, for all the Big Macs consumed
    - Crossed eyes, for the lower IQ
    - Crucifix necklaces, for the ultra-religious

Would there be as much of a reaction?

The fact that the Asian American community feels such a need to respond points to a deep-seated insecurity. If you make fun of me, just allow me to make fun of you. A joke for a joke makes the world a happier place anywayz.

People would go crazy as a shit house loon. Make fun of others, "ok", seems to be the style.

Yeah, that's pretty tasteless. You'd have to be really out of touch with people (of any color) to not see how it could be offensive.

Willing to bet the creator of this app has never actually met an "Asian" person in their lives. icon_razz.gif

https://www.ushmm.org/wlc/en/article.php?ModuleId=10007392Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) was a prominent Protestant pastor who emerged as an outspoken public foe of Adolf Hitler and spent the last seven years of Nazi rule in concentration camps.

Niemöller is perhaps best remembered for the quotation:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
