It looks like I may be traveling around Asia for a couple of months. I have people and places to visit in Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong. What other places or things should I do while over there?

I'll also be traveling alone and would like to see some great places.

Thank you for the help in advance icon_biggrin.gif

I only know Japan, Singapore and South Korea. For the food and the people, my favourite was Singapore. But for the beautiful places to visit, it was rather Japan. I have been also fascinated by the atmosphere of Korean cities.

Get a cheap flight from Bangkok to Seam Reap Cambodia and see the temples. Simply amazing. Also try to get to Hanoi Vietnam. Asia is incredible.

I lived in South Korea for a while and I can tell you:

    1. Don't be gay there (although everyone seems to be camp).
    2. Try Makgeolli (막걸리) thousand times better than Soju (소주).

Seoul, a MUST in your trip to Asia.

In Bangkok... Go nearby to the Floating Market. Amazingly beautiful.

You can get an inexpensive flight and visit Phuket. The beaches there are incredible!!

My two cents: skip Phuket and go to a more remote island. Chiang Mai is smaller but better than Bangkok. Rent a scooter there it's very safe do drive around. For China: Hong Kong for two days is enough but get to Shanghai, bigger, more interesting than Hing Kong. Hop a plane to Bali for three or four days as long as you are over there, you won't regret it.

    South Korea is the best!!

My advice would be to just make sure that you go to these countries with a blank canvas and try/do new things...Asia is realllllly fun!! I'd also recommend having at least a 25% understanding of the language before going...natives like it when you show that you're trying to communicate with them on a common level.

I'm trying. It's still in the makings. I have a hectic schedule and I'm trying to squeeze in time between summer internships / jobs, family visits, wedding, etc.

However, this guy is going all over!

Don't eat anything uncooked in all places except the finest restaurants.
