Lance Armstrong to admit doping?

Take it with a grain of salt as it's NY Times's infamous 'anonymous sourcing' but this is a bombshell if true:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/05/sports/cycling/lance-armstrong-said-to-weigh-admission-of-doping.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0#comments

I have no problem with him using PEDs; I don't even have a problem with him lying about it. I do have a major problem with him ruining the lives, careers, and reputations of those who sought and/or told the truth. If this is true.

Gonna be sad for all his apologist fanboys:

    Lance Armstrong: "I doped"
Armstrong apologists: "No you didn't, you never failed a test!"

Who cares? He can ride the fuck out of a bike, sober or doped.

If he did dope, it only enhanced a natural talent.

i don't see this happening, he spent the last 15 yrs belligerantly denying every allegation, and now he's gonna say: "ok, yeah i was doping"?

I don't see what he would get out of it. and i think that's always been his end game, he only cares about what's good for Lance. His cancer foundation is pure marketing strategy to deflect and distract from his lying and enhance the Lance brand.

the guy is a card carrying narcissist with all the related personality disorders.

The same argument made by bodybuilders who do steroids or the like. The thing is, those athletes who compete naturally (without performance enhancing drugs) are then at a disadvantage.

My guess is the people whose lives, careers, and reputations he ruined with his bullying because they told the truth about his constant lying?

    Just a thought.

Ya i think another reason this won'thappen: if he does now admit to it I think he'd be open to all kinds of civil and slander/libel lawsuits from all the people whose characters he tried to trash.

i stand corrected, i did'nt think he would come clean last time i posted but i wasn't aware that there was a federal whistle blower investigation against him.

true to character Lance is doing what's good for Lance,.....turns out if he cooperates with the feds in ratting out others he gets a pass and won't go to jail over his lies.

as far as I'm concerned there isnt' any reason to give this pathological liar any more media exposure, without the love of the spotlight Lance will shrivel up and die, he's the worst kind of role model for anybody and now he'll write a book and try to garner sympathy for his tragic downfa

i have no problems with him stuffing himself with dope, name me a clean racer ...but being a control freak and a despot blew up in his face finally... he'll survive , write his memoirs, or sell the rights for a movie and make more money.
the guy is all about strategy ... in racing, in doping and now in navigating through the "scandal" . It's actually an amazing quality.
    i still can't stand him.

I always knew Lance was a grade A ass hole and I always rooted for him despite that, but after the Oprah Interview I have lost every drop of respect I had for the man.

Your post inspired me to watch the interview (it's on YouTube).

UIt's extremely uncommon for me to give a fuck about celeb stuff, be it acting, music, or sports...but I watched this simply because I've always loved bicycles and cycling stuff (never followed it as a sport, but just love riding).

I haven't lost every drop of respect. I think he should take up mountain biking, or better yet, freeriding. Of course he won't be allowed to compete in sanctioned events, but I'd love to see what he can do once the tires leave the pavement.

He talks about humbling. As a cyclist, you haven't been humbled till you fall over at least once on almost every ride, no matter how many "performance enhancing" things you take. icon_wink.gif

    "name me a clean racer"

Christophe Bassons turned down a $50,000/month pay rise to start doping.

Graeme Obree - the gay pro cyclist was sacked from his team for refusing to take drugs.

Roger Legeay ran a clean team (Credit Agricole) all through the Lance years.

"Everyone is doing it" is the bullshit cheats tell themselves so they can feel ok about it. Don't be sucked in. There are heaps of clean riders now, and some of them are even winning races icon_smile.gif
