    Hey everyone,
I have been trying to get into modeling; but I live in a pretty small town and don't have many oppurtunities to travel to expos and launcher events that are held in larger towns. So I just wanted to throw my face and interest out there in case anyone has a connection that can help me get into the career. It has always been a great dream of mine and any help would be wonderful. Thanks guys

I actually think the real hypocrites are the people who criticize porn stars--cuz you know they watch it to get off.

There's a disturbingly pervasive notion in gay culture that because we're okay with performing one form of sexual deviance we need to be okay with all of them. A misguided essentialism of the gay identity.

My opinions should not piss you off; the ostracized should not ostracize.

I'm not pissed but I don't make judgements about ppls choices to live and bring happiness in their lives. I'm sure plenty of guys got into porn frm a drug addiction and perhaps molestation early on in adolecences.

I'm sure that their are also men who love sex and choose that path because that's what they wanted to pursue and what's not dignified in that. Clearly not a path for u or I but no judgement should be placed on those that choose that path either.

He said he wants to pursue modeling, not pornography. To go into porn to achieve that end is a cop-out.

Now, if you go into porn for your love of porn then that's a different story. But be mindful of the risks and consequences involved.

Much agreed! But don't discount those that choose a path differnt frm our own by labeling them undignified.

I've done quite a bit of acting (stage acting) and I'm fine with it. I always dreamed of being in movies as well. But my family and everything are here (small town). So modeling seemed like a better choice, since photos can easily be sent to agencies.

Oh, and by the way..I have put on a few inches of muscle since those photos were taken icon_cool.gif

Kiddo, YOU'RE the one who brought up porn, lol. I said he needed to grow two inches because he's only 5'10. Think about where your head is at... And no not THAT head.

Secondly, porn stars can have more dignity than judgy little bitches who try to act like they're superior.icon_wink.gif

But he doesn't need to grow 2 inches. If modeling is what he wants then he should just do it and not care about things he can't help. You're right though, I did assume you were talking about the rule of 8. Maybe I was wrong, maybe you're pretending I'm wrong after the fact.

Porn starts can have dignity, but models who try to get into modeling through porn don't.

The problem with modeling is you really need to be in one of the modeling capitals to succeed at it. It's a tough business, and you can't go on go sees if you don't live in the area where all the agencies are. Why would a modeling agency fly someone in from the middle of no where, when they have thousands of drop dead gorgeous guys walking past their front door every day?

In the US, New York City is the modeling capital, although you can get some work in Los Angeles and Miami.

Aside from NYC, London, Paris, Tokyo, and Milan are where models frequent.

Most male models are between 6' and 6"2. I think 6'1" is considered the male ideal in the modeling industry. It's the one criteria they will not budge on. Looks, body type, attitude, etc. are all subjective. If you're not the right height, it's a deal breaker.

That being said, you are still technically in the allowable height range for men. If you were under 5'10", you'd be out of the running for EditorialFashion modeling most likely.

Just a heads up, modeling does not mean you stay put. Models travel to book jobs, shoots and sell themselves.

Agencies in Denver might be your best bet based on your location, but if you are brought on you must realize that most jobs would be within the Denver metro, so you'll need to travel.

If you don't have time to travel then you need really good photos to send them and then if they have an interest they may call.

Good luck, it is a tough industry and one that has a lot of scammers so research and learn the facts. Don't pay in advance for work and best of luck.

Non-normative sexual act, habit, or fetishization. My statement was very broad though, and certainly not true for everything.

Homosexuals didn't have an identity until fairly recently-- they were part of a differential in relation to normative monogamous/heterosexual/missionary-only couples, which classes them right alongside necrophiles, polygamists, ephebophiles, pedophiles, adulterers, and so on. Part of what the LGBT movement has sought out to accomplish is an appropriation of the "true homo terms" gay/faggot/homosexual and a disassociation of homosexuality with necros/pedos/epheboes/polygamists. It has escaped some of these terms completely (such as necros), and some not so completely (pedos), and some seem holding on steadfast (i.e. polygamists) regardless of what actually happens in the gay community. This belief of the "gay identity/differential" is extant both inside the gay community and outside of it.

A similar example is Africa as viewed by the Europeans during colonial times. African communities were not just different from European communities, they were a negation of them, and as far as the Europeans were concerned, homogeneous. Hence the all-too-common association of tribal Africans as cannibals, however false. Africans also held the same beliefs of Europeans, believing slavers to be shipping them to be eaten.

Haha, OP looks like he could be a good actor. OP feel free to contact me and send me half-nudes/or naked pics for consideration! Haha, just kidding.

. Don't pay any fees up front for any modeling agencies. icon_smile.gif
