Texas is one of 29 states that lacks employment protections for gays, while 34 states don’t protect transgender workers.

The federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which would ban anti-LGBT job discrimination, remains stalled in Congress.

I know how this feels. I was fired in 1998 from an Engineering company in Dayton,Ohio, 3 months after I came out. I was spotted kissing a man on my lunch hour away from the office. The company HR person told me that "no self respecting company employs queers". Ohio did not then, nor does it now, have an ENDA law. Company is Woolpert.

So why didn't Barack and the democrat congress get the Federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act passed in 2009 or 2010?

So why is Barack still providing US foreign aid to countries which execute gays?

So why does Barack want gay hating Chuck Hagel as Secrertary Of Defense?

So why did Barack use gay hating Pastor Rick Warren for the Invocation Prayer, Inauguration Day, January 20, 2009?

If the list above is true, then perhaps President Obama isn't as pro gay as many on here would like......

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Employment_Non-Discrimination_ActIn 2009, following Democratic gains in the 2008 elections, and after the divisiveness of the 2007 debate, Rep. Barney Frank introduced a transgender-inclusive version of ENDA. He introduced it again in 2011, and Sen. Jeff Merkley introduced it in the Senate. President Barack Obama supports the bill's passage.

First time it was included in a party platform:
http://www.democrats.org/democratic-national-platform#protecting-rightsWe know that putting America back to work is Job One, and we are committed to ensuring that Americans do not face employment discrimination. We support the Employment Non- Discrimination Act because people should not be fired based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.

http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/lgbt/news/2011/07/19/10006/a-history-of-the-employment-non-discrimination-act/Following the 2007 House vote on ENDA, a general consensus emerged among advocates that all future versions of ENDA must include language that prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender identity. As such, members of the next Congress introduced ENDA in both the House and Senate that included both sexual orientation and gender identity in 2009.

Both the House and Senate held hearings on the issue but a crowded legislative calendar made ENDA difficult for Congress to prioritize, especially given the debates surrounding health care, reforming financial regulations, the Bush tax cuts, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” repeal, and the passage of the gay and transgender inclusive hate crimes law in 2009.

    It's called the Senate Filibuster

No Excuse, although foreign policy based on only one issue is not usually good foreign policy

So why does Barack want gay hating Chuck Hagel as Secrertary Of Defense?

"gay hating?" icon_rolleyes.gif he made one comment 14 years ago about a nominee being "aggressively gay" and has since apologized... Calling him gay hating is simply propoganda

So why did Barack use gay hating Pastor Rick Warren for the Invocation Prayer, Inauguration Day, January 20, 2009?

    Politics - no excuse

In any case, what do these things have to do with employee non discrimination in Texas? nice straw-man...

    1) The GOP still owns the House. That might be why.
    2) Because the citizens of those countries, who are not responsible for the laws made, are still suffering. Gays are 2-10%. He's looking after the other 90-98%.
    3) Other qualifications, perhaps?
    4) Who cares?

My point is, there are more issues out there than simply gays. I know that's tough for egocentric a to believe, but there it is.

If I recall, a good number of these states provide zero employment protection, meaning race and gender are also an issue. That may be of a larger impact than protecting gays.

That's why I keep my kissing, etc. confined to my office with the door closed. God knows how many soiled reports I've had to reprint.

Without ENDA, men can only offer discreet relationships.

And it's not only the fundamentalist churches but the school systems which discriminate or have discriminated against LGBT teachers. Apologies, at least are in order for healing.

I worked for a company in the dairy industry 1998 in the midwest, when confronted with the "diversity" question to HR, the reply was "we dont want that here", last time i checked their website, nope, still no acceptance on diversity, 15 years later.

Because not everything is about us! Don't make EVERYTHING a gay issue. He's the first President in support of gays. You can't expect him to have a rainbow flag shoved up his ass and down his throat everywhere he goes. If every decision was made to reflect what gays thought his priorities would be pretty fucked up.
