How You can be proud for something You get for free. Pride shall be deserved for acheving some goal. For overcoming some hard situation or making something remarkable. Bou homosexuality in´t even charakter defination. It has no influence for people being good or bad. That´s why I don´t understand gays calling them proud. Selfrespected, yes, of course. We have the inalienable right to be with anyone adult person if the other wants to be with us, without any restrictions from the society. But this has nothing to do with pride.

By the way, does it mean that ,,being proud" means someone will behave like hormonal disbalanced jellyfish? Because from those I hear this word mostly...

I see it as being proud to not be afraid of a world that was once (slowly changing) very unaccepting towards our innate attractions.

You are obviously not gay, otherwise you would have realized when you wrote "For overcoming some hard situation", your entire argument got thrown out the window.

You are more than likely a sexually frustrated straight woman. Be proud of who you are bitch.

Gay pride is about slamming the door behind you when you leave the shame of the closet. It's also more fun than being bitter and scared of what your mom thinks of you. Plus, you'll get laid more if you have a positive attitude.icon_wink.gif

    Pretty much.

I'm proud to be different and proud that I have found the courage in myself to not live my life in fear. I'm not proud of everything about homosexual culture, I don't really like how we're identified for our promiscuity as opposed to some of people who were gay and did great things but that will come with time.

    I´m just using Google translator...

But I never felt frustrated for being gay. I´m out since my 15 and people in all my schools, all my jobs were ok with that...

Then why are you so bitter about others' using the concept of "pride"? Don't be ashamed of who you are, stand up and be proud. It's still a fine message. Not everyone in this world is a lucky as you are.

I don´t know. I´m from Mars, perhaps. I told to my family when I was 15 that I´m gay. And they said ok, than be. Please be carefull. Good luck with finding love. It was like I say I´m left handed. It´s not disease, not a problem, why to talk so much about it.

I went out with my friends in ground school. Ok. High school. Ok. All my jobs. I have straight friends, they know about me, they are talking with my aout my relationships and I talk with them about their relationships and so far no problem.

Everyone around me knew about my boyfriend, we were everywhere together and still no problem.

People around me don´t recognize me as gay but as a person. They are interested in my character, not sexuality.

I can be proud for relationships I have with friends and my family, I can be proud for changes I have achived but I still can´t find the point why to be proud on sexuality....or shall be straight men also proud that they get erection from women not men? Silly, don´t You think?

With a positive connotation, pride refers to a satisfied sense of attachment toward one's own...toward a whole group of people, and is a product of...a fulfilled feeling of belonging.

Not bitter...I just don´t get it. I have a nurse school (as nutrition asistant, kind of nurse watching the patients diet)
24 girls around me for eight hours per day. Nightmare. I was in their tactics on their boyfriends, hypocrisy(google translatoricon_biggrin.gif) and dirty way of fight. I was 17, so when I went to gayclub, it was even worse. Those nurses were soft version of this type of thinking and behaving. Some of them were nice. Very few but proportionately better than the gayclub...

You say you don't get it. But attacking something you don't understand is actually not the trait of a real man. It's simply pigheaded.

It sounds like you are saying, women are a nightmare of gossip, and gay men are even worse. Nice. Thanks. Good luck with that.

I´m making difference between gay men and quee....proud gay men from clubs. I know, it´s politicaly incorect, but it is so. Or You have better people in US....but since I´ve seen Milk (and I like this movie) i thing that ,,proud" type of thinking is better franchise than McDonald´s. Everywhere the same...

He's from the czech republic, arguably the most liberal country when it comes to gay rights and treatment. He has said himself he has never experienced any kind of prejudice, so he can't understand why he should proud of 'the difficult task of coming out' when he has had no experience of it being that. He didn't understand other people's plight but I still don't see it as an attack but a genuine question that led to understanding the meaning of 'gay pride'. Attacking people for their enquiring about something they're ignorant to isn't going to lead to progress.

I didn´t meant people respecting themselves, I meant people mischanging the word proud for activities I described. Like asking someone ,,Why are You behaving like annoying bitch?" and get the ansver ,,I´m not bitch. I´m proud gay"...Have You seen Bruno with Sasha Baron Cohen? This is what I mean. He played very ,,proud" gay. I hope You see the quotation marks, inverted commas. Whatever You call it, they have a reason.
