Yesterday I picked up a bottle of creatine at GNC, and the person behind the counter threw in a free sample of OXYelite Pro and Black Powder Ultra.

I've googled both to figure out what the reviews are before using either of them (haven't used them yet); but most of the reviews seem to be positive.

Have any of you had experience with either of them? I'm entering my first mountain bike race in a couple weeks; and if they're safe to use, it would be great to have a little extra edge.

    WTF are they?

Don't try a new concoction for a race that you haven't tried in training. I feel like NO generators (e.g. NOxplode) make my knees feel too "tight" during climbs, so I don't use them for biking.

Also, what role does creatine play in your training regime? It is mostly something that supports fast re-synthesis of ATP after depletion. So it's good if you workouts with fast bursts of a few seconds that mostly use ATP as energy source, and need to be repenished quickly for the next burst. But it won't help you much with aerobic exercise. Unless your mountain bike race consists of many very short sprints, the creatine won't do you much good. It also seem to have a secondary effect that helps muscle recovery by changing the fluid balance of the muscle tissue a bit. Is that's what you're after?

New black powder is of the N.O. persuasion heard mixed reviews, Oxyelite the original is really good for suppressing appetite and energy. Not sure about the new version just try um and see!

Just signed up for the race today...using the free sample tomorrow morning to see how it works (race is two weeks away). If it works well, I'll get more. If not, I'll ditch it and stick with the creatine and 5-hour energy shots that are tried and true.

If you are preparing for a race this isn't a good idea.

OEP is a weight-loss pill. It will give you absolutely no advantage in fact it's only going to speed up your heart from the caffeine and suppress your appetite. On top of that it's a thermogenic so it's going to heat up your body.

Black Powder is a pre-workout supplement. It is intended for weight lifting not cardio. This one too has loads of caffeine.

The two combined will just lead you light-headed, over-heated, cramped, and dehydrated.

Now outside of training for a race Black Powder is a pretty good pre-workout and OEP is an amazing weight loss supplement.

Generally speaking, it's probably not a good idea to try any new supplement on the day of competitive event.

I swear the day I took Oxy elite. I thought I took cocaine.

I was sprinting like an Bio-mechanic Kenyan Immigrant Ninja.

Urinating like a pregnant Mormon's prophet wife.

And eating like French anorexic model that happens to like Old skool rap music.

    icon_lol.gificon_rolleyes.gif

In simpler terms I don't recommend it. Too much caffeine and other stuff that might not be good for an older persons heart let along mine.

Didint know you had a transplant though. That must be a bummer. Honnest don't take any of these supplements. There never really trial tesed and and generally unsafe. Just do it the slow patient way

Lol Black powder? That sounds like some Easter European pharma drug to get prisoners high. icon_lol.gif The names icon_lol.gif

I like oxyelite pro, got lots of great reviews and personally it really burns that fat you don't want. Don't take caffeine with it though, you would get a massive headache!

They took out DMAA or whatever its called, check out the new ingredients here:

    http://www.oxyelite-pro.com/new-formula

Also there's MORE Caffeine in it so you got to cut out coffee if you want to take it!!

UPDATE: I tried it out on days I DID NOT ride or workout (just to see how it affects me).

Coffee is a non-issue...even a pot of coffee didn't have any adverse effect.

My conclusion: It's useless for my needs. A 5-Hour Energy shot does more for me.
