Reminds me of what the Conservatives did up here. Over 10 billion bailout to GM in '09 with promises by Big Auto it will keep jobs here, then came the Camaro decision moving jobs away (that ought to make Mr outsource-overseas Riddler excited, except the jobs are going to the US) which the gov't is saying Canadians are owed an explanation for, haha.

Now 250 million to the auto industry to promote research.

Oddly, we agree on this issue. The auto bailouts should have never happened. And the irony of it all is that my company is now looking at setting up a production facility in Canada icon_wink.gif

Oh, I have no problem with the original bailout. The problem is the Conservative gov't doing the usual dopey dildock of trusting Big Corp. Altruists they are not, and that money should have come with a giant ball and chain - with teeth. That would have discouraged the easy pickin's crowd.

Heh - and you think that the original bailout didn't do any of these things?

Get Lt. Dan out of there and GM would come back faster, but nevertheless, they're coming around.

It did, eh? Kindly point out all the teeth and ball and chain that bailout money had attached to it to keep Big Corp honest.

Well the "ball & chain" didn't stop big corps from promptly using the money to give obscene bonuses to their incompetent execs. Remember that US scandal?

"Oh, well we had already planned to do that, just minutes before we got the bailout money, even though we were already facing bankruptcy thanks to these same execs."

    Yeah, right. icon_rolleyes.gif

You seem to think that it was unique to the Conservatives? The Democrats and the Republicans in the States bet far far larger. But as noted, these bailouts should have never happened though you seem to think the original one should have despite not having "all the teeth and ball and chain that bailout money had attached to it to keep Big Corp honest." You did say "Oh, I have no problem with the original bailout."

Quoted because obviously Riddler has to re-read in order to gain context.

I have no problem with the original bailout HOWEVER the Conservative gov't idiotically did not add a ball and chain or teeth to conditions of receiving said bailout. (something tells me I should have originally posted for 3rd grade readers).

Hey it's not my problem if you can't express yourself. And as for trying to express yourself to a level a 3rd grade reader might understand - it's probably a little above your own level of comprehension icon_wink.gif

This is not the original bailout you idiot. Other bailouts and incentives have also been largely ineffective and unenforceable when it has come to "ball and chains"/"teeth". Look it up, and get a clue. You're old but you can't be that dumb. I note that these conditions haven't been imposed in the past by other governments of other stripes - like the US and the ridiculous financial bailouts. Worse, it's created the worst possible incentives going forward and hasn't really fixed the underlying problems with these companies that accepted the bailouts.
