I have a weird one. I have big ribs. When I am standing it makes my stomach look bigger then it is. When I am lying down my ribs are higher up then my chest. How do I go about changing this? I always feel fat. If you were to run your hand down the front and side of me you can feel my ribs. If I build up my chest, do you think it would force my ribs in or would it have to be building up my chest shoulders and back? Any suggestions?

Hmm i think I know what you are talking about. I thought I had the same problem as my top ribs protrude though not more than my chest. Then I say a mannequin at a fitness store and it had my same profile....I have noticed though that since I started doing the "vacuum", the protrusion is not as noticeable as before, you might want to check it out. There's an article about it on the exercise section of RJ.

Don't you just hate a fat sternum? How dare those bones protrude. Maybe one day people will be able to genetically engineer a flatter ribcage. Or market at home torture devices, I mean body shaping machines, to let ourselves squish away our bodies.

Seriously, of all the indicators of one's health including body fat percentage, resting heart rate, cholesterol, and many more, you would feel better about yourself if your ribs were smaller?

muchmorethanmuscle saidFeel free to contact Raquel Welch for surgical options to remove any pesky over-sized yet crucial organ protecting ribs to achieve that tapered upper body look.

I wasn't necessarily saying it was a bad thing, i was just curious (as while im not sure for the person who posted it ) as to if it was something that would level with exercise or if it was a natural thing?

    Hey SciFi,
You don't have to be an Ass about it. I was just curious. It was interesting to hear that I am not the only one with big ribs. I have never noticed it on anyone else.

I am having a disconnect on this topic. Having dropped 150 pounds, I have rediscovered my ribs, and sternum. My rib cage is hug, but by no means makes my stomach look bigger. Quite the opposite. My belly look overly shallow, compared to my chest. If only my loose skin would do justice to my abs. icon_redface.gif

I don't think there is any way to change it. You really have to work with your build. I have the same problem. I have a large rib cage and I also know that there is no way that I could ever have a 28 inch waist. I am just not built to be thin.

In a way, it is kind of nice. I think guys that are built like me automatically look more muscled and I don't have to do much work to put muscle on my large bones.
